  1. I'm kinda torn two ways; I didn't like the Master plotline, good though Simms is the character he is playing just isn't the Master and the cliff-hanger to that part was just plain silly. I think I may have said "Woo-hoo!" though, when I need to watch it again though, as it's all a bit blurry now (damn sherry, wine, brandy etc ).
  2. My Christmas haul included seasons six and seven of Deep Space Nine, colour me happy!
  3. You didn't miss anything . . .
  4. There is a short interview with Jasper in this month's SFX magazine, talking about his new book Shades of Grey.
  5. Get outta here!
  6. And there's also a Video!
  7. I did look out for you there BJ, but, alas . . . Anyway, still no podcast, but a good summary of the evening, none the less. (what it fails to mention is that John Mullan had the sh*te ripped out of him repeatedly for not knowing what he was talking about!).
  8. . Very cool YouTube film! Did anyone see any meteors last weekend, by the way? I saw several in a 15 minutes period, would have been a lot better if it had been warmer and I had been outside!
  9. Mamma Mia?
  10. I quite like Pizza Express, but I wasn't very impressed when I last went in my local one a few months back, the service was poor and the pizza wasn't up to scratch either. We have a Nandos in town as well, but I can't be arsed fighting with half a bird - if I'm paying someone to cook for me I expect them to do all the work preparing the food!
  11. Awww, I thought that would take a while to get! Well done, Local Hero it is!
  12. Okay, what film does this come from? Normal. Extra normal.
  13. I'll put my thinking cap on, and post something when I get home!
  14. Bernard Cribbins wins!
  15. Alien. (or possibly one of it's sequels).
  16. Just read that Stargate Universe has been renewed for a second series (I won't post a link to the article as it is rather spoilery!).
  17. I will watch it, and I'm trying to keep an open mind - we'll just have to wait and see, I guess!
  18. Although they did show Holmes taking drugs when they first started the Jeremy Brett series, they dropped it quite quickly (mainly because Brett didn't like the idea of children watching the show and thinking it was a good thing to do). I don't believe the stories suffered because of that, so I wouldn't have a problem with any future adaptation that left it out.
  19. Speaking for myself, I'm just viewing this as a bit of fun - it is so over the top that it clearly isn't trying to be a faithful adaptation (despite all the "it was in the books!" comments they are rolling out). Downey Jr. was great in Iron Man, and looks like he's playing this in a similar vein - should be good!
  20. This will give you an overview of Doctor Who. From what you have said, I think you may have come in on the end of the most recent series, which is the fourth since the series returned in 2005 (after a 16 year break!). The first episode of the new run of Doctor Who started Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, and it starts from the basic premise that people may not have seen the series before. The first episode of that series was called Rose.
  21. You really need to start with the first episode of new Who, Rose, to get the best idea of what is going on. If you watch them in order from that, the story builds as it goes along.
  22. I've seen a couple of interviews in the last day or so (Graham Norton and BBC Breakfast - yes, I was stuck in a Travelodge in London last night . . .) and the party line seems to be "It all comes from the original source material" (with the exception of the plot). How true that is - and how many liberties they have taken - I have no idea, but it looks like a lot of fun, and it's something I'd like to see!
  23. Saw Mr. Pratchett last night, and on fine form he was too! There will be a podcast of it available from the Guardian Book Club web site shortly, though judging by the length of the others Terry must have gone on a good hour longer than everyone else, and was quite prepared to do more (he really seemed to like the wine!).
  24. No, it doesn't, and if you throw in the fact that they haven't shown any pictures of the Triffids yet, it makes you wonder about the strength of the production.
  25. I wouldn't hold your breath, if you are a fan of the book. Some of the promotional material that has been released is making it sound as though someone has taken a hatchet to the plot and characters. We'll have to wait and see, but I strongly suspect that this could be this years The Thirty-Nine Steps.
