  1. I've not seen Pan's Labyrinth yet, but I have it on my
  2. I used to buy the Terry Pratchett books, as read by Tony Robinson, and I used to have quite a few science fiction novels on tape as well, but it's not something I've really got into on CD (I've now ditched most of my tapes). I do have a small collection of the Big Finish Doctor Who audio adventures, but they are full cast dramatisations of original scripts, not audio versions of books (if you like classic Doctor Who, however, I thoroughly recommend them!).
  3. Having grown up in the west country I've been there quite a few times, it is very nice.
  4. Waaaaay back in the mists of time, I was once signing up for a Babylon 5 forum board and couldn't think of a name. At the same time I was watching the Simpsons, the one where Homer recites Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven and the rest, as they say, is history. Quoth the Raven: Eat my shorts!
  5. Hellboy II: The Golden Army Pretty much by-the-numbers plot wise, and you could see the end coming a mile off, but no less enjoyable for that. Very intersting look and feel from Del Toro as well.
  6. As someone who didn't get on with the first book (I haven't read any further) I'll be interested to hear what you think of it.
  7. A cheese sandwich and a packet of crisps.
  8. Some bad news for you, ole chap; it looks like No. 5 is going ahead, according to some comments Ford made recently. I saw it in the cinema and thought it was pretty poor, but I recently re-watched it on DVD and didn't find it so offensive. It's not a good film by any means, I think the best term to use would be "unnecessary". I was just coming to post that I watched this last night, and thought it was a load of ole pants! It looks very pretty, but there is no story and the acting was terrible - I guess I may have been missing the point of the film (i.e. giant robots clobbering each other!). I can't shake the feeling that someone just remade the much better Small Soldiers, but with bigger robots!
  9. I can spend up to an hour walking around my local Watersones if it is quiet and the mood takes me. If it is packed I just go for what I went in for and get out again quick!
  10. I'm sure I've posted this somewhere on here before, but I prefer the film version of Starter for 10 over the book, because the film has the right ending (I felt hugely let down by the book).
  11. But it has swears . . . and norks . . .
  12. The Watch books are very good. Nightwatch is my favourite.
  13. It's a great film, very atmospheric! (I do like a good B-Movie, and some bad ones as well!). Nolliag, I think you may have Trading Places in the wrong category! (unless you are talking about a different Trading Places to the Eddie "Potty-Mouth" Murphy film!). Another to add to my list: Ghostbusters. Not sure how I forgot that!
  14. If twenty year old memories serve, I think Death pops up a couple of times in Wyrd Sisters.
  15. I thought I posted in this thread last year, but looking back it doesn't look as though I did (was there another favourite films thread at some point?!). Never mind, my film CV looks a little, well actually a lot, like this: 12:01, A Night to Remember, Akira, Aliens, Amelie, Apollo 13, Back to the Future, Bladerunner, Clash of the Titans, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Cowboy Bebop, Donnie Darko, Enigma, Fargo, Fever Pitch, High Fidelity, Jaws, LA Confidential, Local Hero, M*A*S*H, North by Northwest, Pleasantville, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Rear Window, Sahara, Sideways, Sink the Bismarck!, Sneakers, Spirited Away, Star Trek, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Addams Family, The Dark Crystal, The Day the Earth Caught Fire, The Day The Earth Stood Still, The Dish, The Life of Brian, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Matrix, The Original Star Wars Trilogy, The Truman Show, To Catch a Thief, Tron, War of the Worlds (1953), When Worlds Collide, Zulu. Oh, and another one for Dogma! (And Spaced).
  16. Hmm. I'll need to think about this one . . .
  17. They are very good, I highly recommend them!
  18. I like the black and white covers they are doing now (though I don't own any of them) but the Josh Kirby covers were a big part of a new Pratchett novel for me and I think the covers have been pretty bland and ordinary since his death (plus, they make for a more colourful bookshelf!).
  19. Catcher in the Rye novelist JD Salinger dies at 91.
  20. Not until you get to ten posts, I believe. Browncoats is a Firefly/Serenity reference!
  21. We got a Nandos takeaway at work last Friday, I do like their olives and garlic side.
  22. Whenever I hear/see the name Miranda I get a vision of a skinny girl going nuts in a bar. Strange aside that, but welcome to the board!
