  1. My guess is that is the time vortex.
  2. I must admit to being a tad underwhelmed by that trailer; bits on the grass, good. Bits where someone had been smoking grass, not good. And who on Earth though the incredibly naff alien head at the end was a good idea?!
  3. Howl's Moving Castle A charming little film, but I enjoyed Spirited Away more.
  4. Stardust Brilliant! An excellent story and some great performances, but above all a whole lot of fun!
  5. I only caught the end - as I turned on for QI - but I was surprised and impressed that they went for what must have been a very challenging piece to film, rather than go for a safe confrontation in the Vic, or similar. It certainly seemed to be more ambitious than the live Quatermass they did a few years back (though I suspect Eastenders probably had more money thrown at).
  6. Well hell-ooooooooo! Great film, I was lucky enough to see it in the cinema a few years back!
  7. I like the Murakami quote in Weave's signature.
  8. The BBC have apparently confirmed an April air date (Easter Saturday? The episode is an hour long . . .).
  9. New series trailer to air this Saturday! Also contains a link to some new promo images. I suspect this means a March 6th air date!
  10. The Peacekeeper Wars is very good. I think Five showed it just before Christmas, not sure, but it is certainly available on DVD, as the copy of my shelf attests!
  11. Yay! Whatta guess! I don't know, I'm making this up as I go . . .
  12. Local Hero I do like this film. It's funny, warm and charming and makes me laugh as much as now as it did when I first saw it, oh so many years ago . . .
  13. I caught the highlights yesterday morning on the BBC and just laughed when that happened! (hey, that's just the way I'm built, sorry!). I'm dreading the 2012 opening, just how lame are we going to be?
  14. Fantastic 4 and Fantasic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Both okay, but nowhere near the top league of super-hero films.
  15. It was, but from one of their bods who comes around and leaves piles of books in our canteen, not from them directly (I'm hoping he will have the John le Carr
  16. The difference between the two, though, is that the Wordsworth classics are just straight re-prints, whereas Penguin books are often furnished with new material (introductions and analysis that help to put a book in context; to explain the themes in it and how it came to be written etc). Personally, I always go for the Penguin version of a book precisely for this extra content - I don
  17. These were delivered to work this morning: Not bad for a fiver!
  18. I have seen Farscape, I have series 3 on DVD to watch though.
  19. But she did get a spot of robot lovin'! I'm leaning towards Farscape as I only have the one series of that to watch, and all five of Angel. I think it will come down to what I feel like when I sit down in front of the TV next . . .
  20. Now, now, jealousy does not become you! (I always preferred Ro Laren myself). I finished watching Deep Space Nine on Wednesday; just as good as ever. A really good group of characters and a great cast that were never really equalled or bettered, and some very good stories. What next, Angel or Farscape?
  21. I'm still hopeful the BBC might do a TV series of it. They are good at period stuff, and CGI Martians on a budget must be possible if Triffids is anything to go by.
