  1. I'd argue Radcliffe is a better actor than Emma Watson, who can't act for toffee. They were a bit hit-and-miss in the adaptation stakes, but I think they've all pretty much garnered five star reviews. They have got better as they have gone along; as I've said before the last three have done a good job of adapting bloated, over-written stories into good family action adventure films. *Badum-tish!* I've not been brave enough to watch that yet!
  2. Iain M. Banks has had some good titles; Look to Windward, Consider Phlebas, Inversions, the rather simple Matter and my personal favourite, Excession. My entry in this thread would be Stand on Zanzibar, by John Brunner. I was expecting Kylie to beat me to this!
  3. Whoops! I think we have crossed wires here, I thought you were talking about the End of Time, but it sounds like you were talking about the series four finalé - apologies if I've spoilered anything! Journey's End is a much better story than End of Time, and it does have an excellent ending - it's just a pity RTD had to go and stomp all over it later . . .
  4. Well, you already know what I think about that . . . And it's actually been re-enforced, having watched the End of Time parts one and two on BBC Three last Friday night. There are individual pieces that are very good indeed, but they are too few and far between and the overall story is just so badly plotted (but that's what you get if you make up a story as you go, I suppose!).
  5. It should be pointed out that the Flashman books are also very much tongue in cheek!
  6. Very good, I shall make sure I've finished cooking and eating before it starts next week so I'm not distracted! Bad news Kell, there are only 3 episodes in total.
  7. Yep, well done (and thanks) for all the hard work Michelle (and team!).
  8. A couple of pieces of news . . . - Tonight is the first of two Doctor Who Proms (the second being tomorrow morning) which will feature Matt Smith, Karen Gillian and (hurrah!) Arthur Darvill. The Prom starts at 7.30pm and, for listeners on Radio Three, there will be a 20-minute programme taking a light-hearted look at the music of Doctor Who called "Dance of the Daleks" which will be broadcast during the intermission at around 8.20pm (the second Prom starts tomorrow morning at 11.00am). - For those who may have missed it / want to see it again / do not have access to iPlayer or the DVDs etc, BBC Three are starting a re-run of series five next Friday evening at 7pm.
  9. Finished! I'll gather my thoughts and post some of them soon (forum update permitting!).
  10. ^ It was a completely rubbish story though (Last of the Timelords, that is). The best things about Voyage of the Damned is that . Well, it made me laugh . . .
  11. ^ Some of the action figures are very good, others not so. I've only seen the pocket watches in the shop (in their packaging) and the reason I don't like them is that they do look like they are made from plastic (and I just know the weight would be wrong etc - I want a real one, god dammit!).
  12. I've found the quality of the merchandise Character Options pushes out to be very variable. The Journal of Impossible Things does look to be one of the better offerings, but things like the Doctor's (and the Master's) pocket watch, the Master's Ring and some of the sonic screwdrivers they have produced to be very cheap and plastic looking at best. Okay, so they are primarily intended to be toys, but at the same time I'll wager there are just as many collectors out there buying this stuff up!
  13. I started re-watching Angel last week*, and got up to I Will Remember You last night. I think I now know the exact moment Twilight and half-a-dozen other Buffy wannabes were conceived! *Well, re-watching season one, I have all five seasons here to watch but have only seen up to the end of season three, previously.
  14. Clockwork Man (for when you have some free coinage).
  15. I think there is a 12" version of that available - try another eBay search!
  16. ^ I find it very hard to watch that, it gets so much wrong and I'm actually glad it failed. Paul McGann is excellent, and it is a real shame he never got to play the Doctor properly in a series made in the UK, but the majority of the rest of it is painful viewing. If you are looking for good old school Who, check out The Talons of Weng-Chiang or The Caves of Androzani.
  17. This weeks Radio Times has an offer for a free audiobook from Audible (you can choose from their entire back catalogue, I believe!).
  18. Something to watch whilst Michelle is ironing out the bugs in the new forum . . . (kidding!). The new Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat scribed BBC One series Sherlock will air on Sunday 26th July at 9pm. The first feedback on it is that it is very good indeed, let's hope so!
  19. Two. English and Drunkenese . . . (I would like to learn Japanese, however).
  20. I'd suggest starting with Eccleston
  21. I don't have a problem with the music, in fact I love the music during the excellent TARDIS car chase. Either you've watched a lot of epsiodes very fast, or you are watching them out of sequence! (the Christie episode is in Tennant's last series).
  22. Did you win the TARDIS?

  23. Quick question: Is this the last film in the series, or is there another to come?
  24. Rose: You're not keeping the horse. Doctor: Why not? I let you keep Micky. The Runaway Bride is my favourite Christmas special - Tate and Tennant work very well together.
