  1. I`d love the giant rainbow drop I have made a giant jaffa cake before - and rather lovely it was to!
  2. I saw a clip of this on the news, I`m so glad I wasn`t on that bus or on the roads at the time, it looked like pure madness, very scary stuff.
  3. Fresh pineapple.
  4. I`ve read a couple of Stuart Macbride books and thoroughly enjoyed them, I look forward to reading more. Logan McRae is a great character and the stories definately had me hooked from the start.

    Hello

Hello Kate, welcome to the forum. I think if you enjoy reading it really doesn`t matter how fast or slow you take it, that`s part of the joy of reading there are no right or wrongs.
  8. Yes I bet you were chuffed and rightly so! I`m ok thanks, looking forward to half-term next week :D feeling pretty drained and needing to recharge the batteries you know. I imagine you must feel the same only more so. :) Take care. xx

  9. Hello Nici, just wanted to say Well Done on the distinction! :friends0:

  10. Hello
  11. I couldn`t even make myself finish Norwegian Wood I lost all interest in it, but I thoroughly enjoyed After Dark by the same author.
  12. Hello Pickle welcome hope you`re enjoying the forum.
  13. I`ve read two really good books in the last couple of days (To Kill A Mocking Bird and A Thousand Splendid Suns) Now I`m finding it hard to choose another to follow them. That`s my excuse and I`m sticking to it!
  14. Good idea for a thread! I`ve never tried slimfast mainly because I think when I stopped it I`d go back to my bad eating habits, I could see it being a good way to kick-start a diet though. I need to lose nearly 2 stone ideally. I`m trying to cut out the snacking at the moment and to just eat normally but sensibly, like cutting down on potato and bread. Also I`m trying not to eat after 6 in the evening other than fruit. One thing I really need to do is to cut cheese and eggs right out of my diet because of my cholesterol levels which I find hard to do. As for water consumption, I drink quite a bit when I`m at work but when I`m at home I completely forget to drink it.
  15. I`d read it was good and it was only even better Frankie. You really should bump it up! This was the first time I`d read it but I really regret not reading it sooner - still better late than never As Kylie says it`s brilliant, and you`re sure to love it. Thanks Kylie, I can see why it`s a favourite of yours, story telling at its best I think. I`ve never read Uncle Tom`s Cabin either, I`ll be interested to read what you think of it if you do. Happy reading
  16. Finished To Kill A Mocking Bird ~ Harper Lee An incredible story set in 1930s Alabama and told by the daughter of the lawyer who defends a black man accused of raping a white teenager. As well as talking of the racial prejudice, this book covers so much more. Atticus, the lawyer, is a single parent bringing up his two children since being made a widower when his youngest child was 2, he seemed like the ideal father to me and a rare breed of man for that time period I imagine, with a great outlook on life, but not everybody thought the same way! There was a boy whose parents were separated and we hear of the effect this had on him. Seeing the story through the childs eyes was lovely, funny and sad. Harper Lee was an amazing story teller. I`m certain I`ll be reading this again. 10/10
  17. Hello and welcome Coco
  18. Hello and welcome Runner
  19. I finished To Kill A Mockingbird this afternoon, it was so good I couldn`t put it down but I was really disappointed when I realised I`d reached the end!
  20. Finished A Thousand Splendid Suns ~ Khaled Hosseini. I highly recommend it, it`s an incredibly moving and thought provoking story. Reading this and The Kite Runner have really made me rethink my attitude towards Afghanistan and the troubles over there, innocent people have suffered so much for so long and the women so much more it seems. 10/10
  21. I`m halfway through, To Kill A Mockingbird, I can`t believe I haven`t read it before!
  22. I would definately recommend both, ATSS and Kite Runner. (and I appreciated the thought )
  23. Thanks Chrissy, I voted for it yesterday, I didn`t really expect to read it so quickly. There are some interesting looking books in the vote.
  24. Hello and welcome.
