  1. Happy Birthday! Hope you have a lovely day :D

  2. Just had Domino's pizza even though she shouldn't, it does seem to have helped my headache though, go figure ..

  3. We have to wait until next year too, bummer Guess we'll just have to keep on reading til then! I'm sure we'll manage
  4. I loved your thoughts on Dexter is Delicious and you are quite right of course! Glad you enjoyed it so much. I'm intrigued to read Exquisite Corpse now, just wondering though, do you know if it's part of a series?
  5. Thanks frankie It wasn't so much that I didn't enjoy it, it was ok, it just wasn't as good as I was expecting I guess
  6. Linger ~by~ Maggie Stiefvater Synopsis courtesy of Waterstone's: In "Shiver", Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in "Linger", they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping dangerous secrets. For Sam, it means grappling with his werewolf past ...and figuring out a way to survive the future. But just when they manage to find happiness, Grace finds herself changing in ways she could never have expected... It took me a while to get into the prequel of this, 'Shiver', but once I did I loved it and was really looking forward to 'Linger'. Needless to say it didn't disappoint. The story picked up straight where it left off in 'Shiver' and the plot this time concentrated more on Grace and the changes she was going through. There were several new characters introduced and we were able to get to know some of the more secondary characters from the previous book (I'm really liking Isobel now!) . The main characters of Sam and Grace developed even more and I enjoyed how their relationship maturing. A great read both for young adults and older ones alike. I am so looking forward to 'Forever'! 9/10
  7. Lost Souls ~by~ Poppy Z Brite Synopsis Courtesy of Waterstone's: Sex, blood and rock'n'roll - presented here from the master of gothic horror. At a club in Missing Mile, just outside New Orleans, the children of the night gather. They dress in black and they're looking for acceptance. There's Ghost, who sees what others do not; Ann, looking for love; and Jason, whose real name is Nothing, seeking the deathless truth about his father - and himself. But into Missing Mile tonight come three beautiful, hip vagabonds: Molochai, Twig and seductive, green-eyed Zillah. They are on their own lost journey, slaking their ancient thirst for blood, aching for supple young flesh. In Nothing and Ann they find it. Now Ghost must pursue them all. To save Ann from her new friends, to save Nothing from himself. First published in the early 90s, "Lost Souls" redefined the vampire novel for a new generation and remains unsurpassed in its dark wit, graphic descriptions and its power to send shivers of panic and pleasure down your spine... I was looking forward to reading this so much that it was a bit of a let down when I didn't get drawn into it straight away. The story is told from the perspective of several of the characters and while it was easy to follow, it just didn't hold my interest as much as I'd hoped. This is supposed to be a disturbing read but what I find disturbing is the fact that it didn't disturb me at all! If you are squeamish be aware, it does include sexual content (including incest) and violence along with the usual spatterings of gory murders. I did like the character Ghost, however I found myself wanting to either slap or give the others a good shake. The storyline was a bit slow and although I wouldn't say it was a bad read, it wasn't as good as I'd hoped for. 6/10
  8. Since my last post here, I've finished Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite, Linger by Maggie Steifvater and am half way through The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly
  9. That's not a book shelf Sara, it's a library! Brilliant! Weave - you need another bookcase woman! You have loads of books, very impressive!
  10. I'm still slowly but surely making my way through Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite, not quite as entertaining or disturbing as I thought it would be, but at least my mojo is hanging in there. Two books arrived today from Waterstone's at last Linger by Maggie Stiefvater The Book Of Lost Things by John Connolly I think Linger will be next to read
  11. The Lovely Bones. Think they went a bit overboard with the heaven scenes but apart from that, it stuck pretty close to the book with just a few things changed or left out. To be honest I only watched all of it cause I'd read the book
  12. I watched Get Him To The Greek last night. Russell Brand was great as always but I'm not a huge fan of slapstick comedy. Sean Combs was brilliant, total surprise!
  13. Thanks! Like I said, it did take me a while to get into it but that might have been my mojo's fault. Once I did though I loved it! Hope you guys enjoy it too
  14. Trust you frankie to have filled not just a bookshelf, but a bookcase no less in Kylie's place. You've only been there a matter of weeks woman!! It looks very neat and tidy too
  15. Thanks Weave! I've ordered Linger already
  16. Happy Birthday! Hope you're having a lovely day :D

  17. Happy Birthday! Hope you're having a lovely day :D

  18. I finally finished Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater last night and ended up really enjoying it, so much so I've ordered Linger already, along with The Book Of Lost Things by John Connolly After I'd finished Shiver I went straight on to Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite, but just read the prologue before I fell asleep.
  19. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater Synopsis Courtesy of Waterstone's: Grace is fascinated by the wolves in the woods behind her house; one yellow-eyed wolf in particular. Every winter, she watches him but every summer, he disappears. Sam leads two lives. In winter, he stays in the frozen woods, with the protection of the pack. In summer, he has a few precious months to be human ...until the cold makes him shift back again. When Grace and Sam finally meet, they realize they can't bear to be apart. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human - or risk losing himself, and Grace, for ever. It took me a while to get into this book and to be honest for the the first half of it, I just wanted to get through it so I could move on. The second half however was great! I whizzed through it, there was a lot more going on and the ending was a delight. I loved the two main characters and how they developed and I'm now looking forward to reading the next in the series. 8/10
  20. Great book shelves DecemberJoy!
  21. I'm more intrigued than ever, is that wrong?? (I don't want to vomit though ) I got a good bit of reading done yesterday and now have about 1/4 of Shiver to finish.
  22. Oh you got Exquisite Corpse, nice one! Lost Souls arrived to me on Sat and is definitely next to be read I have Manhattan Is My Beat on my shelves as well, boy we have great taste!
  23. Aw it's such a shame you didn't enjoy Dexter lopeanha, he's one of my favourite characters. I even prefer the books to the TV series, which I couldn't get into at all. The books however, hooked me from the start, although I would describe them more as a dark comedy than serious crime (even though he's a serial killer ). Sorry you didn't enjoy it , he just mustn't be to your taste. How boring would the world be if we all liked the same things eh?
  24. Great review peacefield! I thought you might end up liking this one the best I found DTTW to be the turning point for me, where I switched from preferring Bill over Eric, to the other way around! I wonder why? ....
  25. I ordered Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite last Saturday from Waterstone's and it has arrived at last!
