Mine is similar to yours Rawr. In Canada everyone calls it either Supper or Dinner, depending where you grew up. In my neck of the woods we called it supper. (We've eaten & tonight we had homemade chicken stew)
I don't think many jockeys are owners of the horses they race. Not even the trainers often own the horses they train. On a jaded note, I am sure that the owners will be well compensated by their insurance company, but it is sad that horses do die as a result of this race.
My favourites are:
Gnocchi in a nice cream sauce with zucchini
Meatloaf with dauphinoise potatoes
French stick, cold chicken and red pepper hummous
Banana Bread
Apple crumble
Cold Corn Bread Muffins with a little bit of butter - yum!
Our horse came third. The kicker is that at the last minute I decided to not place a bet on Mon Mome! I'd been thinking of betting on him because I love the name Liam & that's the name of the jockey who rode him. Oh well! Guess I should follow my inclinations, lol.
