  1. Ruth, your theories are fascinating. Although I've loved both Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, I have no real idea what's going on in them. Reading your theories made it even more exciting! As to what Keats did to Viv, it was obvious Viv was really scared of Keats, and the only thing I could think was that isn't there a place on the neck that can kill you if it's pressed in a certain way? I wondered if that was what he had done.
  2. I agree it was a fabulous episode last night, and Matt Smith is getting better as the weeks go on.
  3. I've finished Red Bones by Ann Cleeves today, and made a good start on The Widow's Tale by Mick Jackson.
  4. Glad to hear that. I read her second book, The Bed I Made, a few months ago and loved it. The House at Midnight is on my TBR pile.
  5. I finished Before the Storm by Diane Chamberlain this morning - what a fabulous read! I'm now well into Red Bones by Ann Cleeves, and this is a series I'm enjoying immensely.

I watched it. I thought it was ok, but a little slow.
  7. I'm reading Before the Storm by Diane Chamberlain and finding it practically unputdownable. It's the second of her books that I have read (the other being The Lost Daughter) and I find she writes a fantastic story.
  8. The advert breaks were ridiculous. They could have cut the programme down by 30 minutes and still had ample ad breaks. I don't think it was the best episode last night, but still good.
  9. I love Lewis, and I think the relationship between him and Hathaway is really well done. I never watched Morse though.
  10. I've finished Brooklyn by Colm Toibin today - what a fantastic read. Now started Me and Emma by Elizabeth Flock.
  11. Chris Evans for me. I listen to the radio every morning now, whereas before I never had the radio on. I found Terry Wogan so dull, but Chris Evans is so lively. A complete contrast, so I can understand why the majority of Wogan listeners aren't happy with the new arrangements.
  12. Three really good books there. Thirtynothing is my favourite Lisa Jewell book.
  13. I've read the first three. This is How is a fantastic read, as is The Help. I was a little disappointed by The Little Stranger, and didn't find it very atmospheric or scary. The next four are on my TBR pile. The next three are on my wishlist. And I've tried the last two and didn't like either of them very much. Wolf Hall is a Marmite book - you either love it or hate it, I think. And Black Water Rising didn't do much for me at all, although I think generally it's got pretty good reviews.
  14. I'm just over half way through Brooklyn by Colm Toibin and enjoying it very much. The story is very well told, although I do feel there is a bit of a lack of emotion.
  15. I've read it too and thought it was a great read, although I know what you mean about some of the characterisations missing something.. I felt the second in the series, White Nights, was even better though. I have the third one to read at the moment from the library.
  16. The play is amazing. I loved the book too.
  17. I only asked about The Wind in the Willows as I read it recently and it's part of that set that you have there. Thanks for the avatar comment - I do love cats
  18. I've now finished Balthazar Jones and the Tower of London Zoo by Julia Stuart. I absolutely loved it. It's really quirky but it's a great read, and full of interesting facts too. I'm now going to start a book by one of my favourite authors - Maureen Lee. This one is The Leaving of Liverpool.
  19. I love that bookcase Poppy, and the books on it for that matter. Have you got The Wind in the Willows on there? If I had that bookcase I would just want to stroke the books
  20. I might put The Song Reader on my wish list as you rate it so highly
  21. I finished Divas Don't Knit by Gil McNeil today - a nice and easy read. I'm now almost 100 pages into Balthazar Jones and The Tower of London Zoo by Julia Stuart and finding it an unusual and fun read so far.
  22. I've just read Once Upon a Day for a book group. I'd never heard of Lisa Tucker before that, but I thought it was a great read. The Song Reader sounds unusual
  23. Skim-read the pretty dire Blood Ties by Sam Hayes, and will be starting Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson later on.
  24. I've just seen the latest Pizza Hut advert. It made me chuckle Also love the new Barclays advert too. (Click on pause on the other video and play on the main one)
  25. Just finished One Moment, One Morning by Sarah Rayner, and about to start Blood Ties by Sam Hayes.
