Does anybody watch Miranda, starring Miranda Hart, on BBC2? It's being repeated at the moment, but as I missed the first couple of episodes when it was first shown, I'm glad to be able to watch the whole series. She is absolutely hilarious. The other bonus is lovely Tom Ellis (I did see one episode later in the series when he does a bit of an Officer and a Gentleman moment ).

I've been watching it. I work in a church as an administrator, so it rings true in places for me too. It's not hilariously funny, but it's reasonably amusing.

Finished the excellent Started Early, Took My Dog by Kate Atkinson. Now reading The Poison Tree by Erin Kelly.
-
I like Rachel Hore's work. I've read The Memory Garden and The Glass Painter's Daughter, and thought both were really good reads. Like Kate Morton, she seems to specialise in the dual time narrative story.
-
Finished Different for Girls by Louise Wener, which I thought was a reasonably good read about growing up and then being in a band. Now reading Started Early, Took my Dog by Kate Atkinson.

Finished and enjoyed The Kindest Thing by Cath Staincliffe. Now onto Different for Girls by Louise Wener.
-
The Upright Piano Player by David Abbott was a superb read. Now on to The Kindest Thing by Cath Staincliffe.
-
I've finished Time's Legacy by Barbara Erskine and thought it was fantastic. I love dual time narrative books and this had lots of mysticism in it too. Now over half way through The Upright Piano Player by David Abbott - another great read.

Absolutely brilliant! Once again, the writing and acting were pure quality. RTD did a great job with the previous series and bringing Dr Who back to life, but Stephen Moffatt is in a league of his own, I think. And I love Matt Smith!
-
I liked that one too, and I've also read The Glass Painter's Daughter by the same author. She does a great dual time narrative book.
-
I have read Summer Sisters and loved it, but haven't read any of her other adult work. I still have my original copy of Forever!
-
If you loved Emotional Geology then you won't be disappointed by the other two. Linda Gillard is an amazing writer.
-
I really enjoyed The Lost Book of Salem. Guernica wasn't such a good read for me. Forever brings back lots of memories for me. I was a huge Judy Blume fan as a kid and just used to buy any of her books when they appeared in the shops, without really looking to see what they were about. I think I was about 10 or 11 at the time, so Forever was a bit of a surprise!

I've read We Are All Made of Glue and thought it was excellent. I've also read Tractors, which I loved, and Caravans which, like other posters, I was disappointed by.

I finished Excellent Women by Barbara Pym this morning. I liked it, although I sort of felt the story had little purpose. I'm now well into Time's Legacy by Barbara Erskine and really enjoying it.
-
I've now finished Whatever You Love by Louise Doughty, and found to be an excellent read. Next up is Excellent Women by Barbara Pym.
-
I've now finished Tony and Susan by Austin Wright. I thought it was ok, but I don't really know what the point of it all was. I was expecting a surprise at the end and it just sort of petered out. Next up is Whatever You Love by Louise Doughty.

Waterstone's are giving away extracts of this book. They've got a stand outside (in Sheffield) and the extracts are newspaper sized. I picked one up to look at, although I'm not sure whether this book is really my thing.

Great review, Janet. This book is on my TBR pile. Unlike you, I know nothing about Clare really, but the book appeals to me. I like short sections in books too - they definitely make me read quicker.
-
Incendiary is a fabulous book, Janet. And if you like it, I'd recommend watching the film too - I gave myself a headache because I cried so much.
-
That sounds like a great read, Poppy.

I really liked The Song House by Trezza Azzopardi, and will definitely look out for more of her work. I'm now reading Tony and Susan by Austin Wright - intriguing and unusual!

Yes, that makes sense. I was surprised about Mark's eagerness to believe Luther too. That didn't ring true. And Rose should have thought there was something fishy about Luther saying Ian had killed Zoe when they were supposed to be such good friends and colleagues. I could never believe how quickly Luther managed to solve cases, but I didn't mind because it was so watchable.
-
I agree about Ruth Wilson. She's been brilliant in everything I've seen her in. I suppose with Rose that they knew how volatile Luther could be, and that he'd had a ding-dong with Zoe and had smashed the window in his office, so was obviously angry about it. Ian had done nothing to make her suspicious of him. I think that whole thing at the end about having to find Ian urgently wasn't very well thought out, as what reason did they have (apart from Ripley's feelings) to say that Ian was involved in it at all?
-
Yes, a very good final episode. I wonder what he will do now though, as he's surely in no better position than when they thought he had killed his wife. I hope they make another series.
