  1. What a shame. It's a good few years since I read it, but I thought it was brilliant. I've always hoped she would write something else, but she hasn't done so far.
  2. Wonderful episode last night. I too cried when they took Vincent to the museum, and I was sad at the death of the monster too. This episode had all the hallmarks of Richard Curtis's writing: the emotion, the feelgood factor, the humour etc. I hope he writes more.
  3. I've finished The Debutante by Kathleen Tessaro, and I absolutely loved it. Have now started The Song House by Trezza Azzopardi.
  4. I read this one a few years ago and thought it was an excellent read.
  5. I'd definitely second Linda Gillard's books. I also know that I will always get a good read from Lesley Pearse and Maureen Lee.

It was pretty grim, wasn't it! The one with the man who was taking women from their houses and writing on the walls with blood scared me more though.
  7. Finished Trail of Blood by S.J. Rozan - very good detective story. Now starting The Debutante by Kathleen Tessaro.

I agree. After what I thought was a quite poor first episode, I decided to carry on and have found each episode since to be gripping viewing. Last one next week It's definitely far-fetched, and Luther seems to be able to solve a crime very easily, but it's all quite exciting.
  9. Maureen Lee is my comfort read. I know that if I'm struggling with everything else, I can rely on her to give me a great read.
  10. I've read all of her work, and agree that Burning Bright is maybe not the best, but I loved it nevertheless. It was her fifth book, and I'd say her first four had a different feel to them. I'd find it hard to pick a favourite as I enjoyed them all.
  11. I love S&TC. I've watched all the episodes and the first film twice now, and will be doing so again in the not too distant future. I'll be going to see the second film in the next few weeks I think. I know it's not had great reviews though.
  12. Told in Silence by Rebecca Connell as a bit of a disappointment. I've now moved on to Trail of Blood by S.J. Rozan.
  13. I've finished Our Tragic Universe by Scarlett Thomas. I have no idea what it was all about really, but it was a compelling read anyway. Now about to start Told in Silence by Rebecca Connell.
  14. Yes, Ruth did a great job with her theories I'm going to miss Gene too - he's a legend.
  15. What did everybody think of the last episode? I enjoyed it, although I'd heard Sam Tyler and Annie were going to be in it, so I was a little disappointed that they weren't. But it was an intriguing and illuminating episode.
  16. Great review of Brooklyn. I read it recently and loved it, although I agree with some of your criticisms. I thought exactly the same about the fact that it's written by a man and so lacks some level of emotion that we would probably get from a female writer. And I also had to Google the pronunciation of her name early on as I wanted to get it right in my head.
  17. I've finished Footprints in the Sand by Sarah Challis. I felt it was a bit long-winded and it read more like a travel memoir than a work of fiction, but it was quite a good story. I'm just about to start Our Tragic Universe by Scarlett Thomas, which was I was lucky enough to get free from the Library Thing Early Reviewers programme.
  18. I've tried a fair few of these now. I think my favourites are the French Garlic Baguette - yum. They're all really nice though - even the BBQ Kangaroo ones (which don't contain real kangaroo flavouring ). Does anybody know if they are limited edition? Are they going to disappear in a few months?
  19. I'm glad you got to see it, Janet. It was a brilliant take on the story.

Is anybody watching this? I thought the second episode was great - a big improvement on the first one for me.
  21. Under This Unbroken Sky was far too depressing for me. Moved on to Footprints in the Sand by Sarah Challis.
  22. The Coffin Trail didn't do anything for me so I have abandoned it and am now starting Under This Unbroken Sky by Shandi Mitchell.
  23. I've now finished The Widow's Tale by Mick Jackson and enjoyed it very much. It's got a comic note to it. Next up is The Coffin Trail by Martin Edwards.
