Spag bol tonight.

I have just ordered Rosemary Conley's step by step cookery book. I have already experienced some of her recipes from the on line site and they are delicious. So I am looking forward to trying some in this book.

I selected Jodi Picault's "The Tenth Circle" for my next book and started it last night. I dont think I will be continuing it as after reading the Prologue and the first chapter, which was very vague and weird and then turning the page and finding a comic strip I thought "what is this?" Not my scene I dont think. Would be interested in other's comments if they have read this book

Getting on well with A Family Cursed. Bit slow at first, but a good family saga.

Megan doesnt that emphasise the importance of introducing books at a very young age, even as babies, reading to them before they go down for the night.

Tonight's dinner is a mystery because the OH is doing it and I am not allowed in the kitchen until its served. That means I can get on the computer at last, he is always on here:mrgreen:

What seriously yummy puddings did your mother, grandmother or even great grandmother do you remember them making? In my family I am chief syrup pudding and Christmas pudding maker. Last weekend as I made it my grandson followed the procedure and I told him what I was doing and why. He loves cooking and I think he wants to try his hand at it himself. I will have lost a job then wont I:blush:

The first book I can remember reading was "The Water Babies" by Charles Kingsley. I was pretty young.

Finished Sense and Sensibility which I thoroughly enjoyed. Do I put my review in general reviews? or in the Jane Austen section. Help please Kell. Have now started "A Family Cursed" by Elaine Crowley. Anyone read it or any others by this author? It starts well so far.

Saw "Cirque Soleil" at the Albert Hall last Thursday with my lovely family. It was their Christmas treat for us and partly to celebrate my grandson's 15th birthday:D

Got stuck into Sense and Sensibility once I became acclimatised to the style of writing again and the "perfect" English. After you have been reading modern fiction I find it does take a couple of reading sessions to get into "Jane Austen" mode. Once in though I drown in it, love it. this is a second reading of this novel for me and there are so many things I missed the first time. Am really enjoying it, will probably finish it in a few more days.

The first book I remember receiving as a present was a children's book of poetry. One moment which I was always reading out loud was "Leisure" by Walter de la Mare. I also remember Rupert Brooke, but I am not sure what poems he wrote that caught my eye.

Well I finished A Mighty Heart and have now started Sense & Sensibility. A Mighty Heart was well written and flowed well, but its content I did not really like so I wont review it. I cannot believe how 2 people could put themselves in a place where there was such risk, especially when she was pregnant - and right after 9/11 too. I cannot understand why The Wall Street Journal needed to have someone in Pakistan. I feel sorry for her losing her husband like that, but cannot believe how naive they both were.

Try Lee Child's books they will really get you going

Half way through "A Mighty Heart" which is proving to be a really good read, even though it is about such a sad event. Sense & Sensibility is on the horizon

I have only ever tried one Martina Cole book and I thought it was awful. Anyone who uses an overwhelming amount of swearing and sordid sex is not a writer worth bothering with in my opinion.
