  2. When did you first know you wanted to be a writer ? At school or some other time? Were you good at essay writing at school? Who encouraged you,inspired you to take the plunge into writing? Sorry so many questions at once!!

  6. The only sure fire way I dont come out of a book shop or charity shop without a book, is to take my husband with me lol:D. He always reminds me how many books we have to read "we dont need any more" is his by line. On my own or with my daughter or friends its a sure thing I will find some I fancy
  7. I have read most of Lee Child's books and have enjoyed everyone. I reached the stage where I was waiting impatiently for the next one to be published, but had branched out into other authors by that time. I have to catch up now as I think he has written a further 3 now.
  8. My childhood was so free and happy. Although born in 1935 and being a child during the war (I was 10 when it ended). When sweets came off ration, I didnt know what to have there was so much. I didnt know what a banana was!! Imagine that eh? Most of all I remember cycling everywhere, to school, or during the holidays miles and miles all around where I lived. I was such a free spirit. Despite historians recording that the 40s and 50s were times of austerity, I just remember being happy, never felt deprived, it truly was a wonderful time.

  10. Sense and Sensiblity is good too I think and of course Pride and Prejudice.
  11. Bought Sense and Sensibility and Mansfield Park in a second hand book shop today. I already have Pride and Prejudice. So I am ready to GO!!!!

  13. I have one of these on my shelf already, the rest I can borrow from my daughter (HandD) although she might want to join in as well.

  15. Lucky you Pipistrelle, I would love to see one of his demonstrations, but sadly, he isnt doing one near me this time. I too enjoyed his book
  16. I have a metal filigree one slips over the page I am at. Very useful. I get nagged by my oh if I turned down pages. He bought me the book mark to stop me doing it.
  17. It was the Nobel Prize for Literature - no particular book was involved. And the word is BOOK!!! Booky duh:motz:
  18. If its a by an author that I like or am familiar with I read the blurb and if thats ok, I will buy it. The cover just doesnt come into it with me. With hard backs, though, I do try to find the author, usually inside the backflap to look at the photo if there is one, or to read their biography.
