  1. I have now started A Small Part of History by Peggy Elliott, the free book from Headline Publishers for pre publication review. I have found it easy to read so far. It has caught my interest too because I am awaiting the start of the big adventure into the West!!
  2. My grandson reads these books and often meets up with a group of friends who are like minded.
  3. Hello Nici, how are you. Well done to Robbie for doing the lawn. Hope your mum is not feeling too bad.:friends0:

  4. We have 2 blue and 2 pink and I too prefer the blue one. I am thinking of taking up the pink ones because they spread so much and take over the plot where they are. They are all leaves and stalks and measly little flowers, what there are of them.
  5. I have finished After You'd Gone and here is my review - After You
  6. I think you have found a friend now Severnlad

  7. You are very welcome T.

  8. I hope you had a nice holiday Papillon, did you go somewhere nice? Yes I love labradors, my last one died in 1995. I have had 2 and I remember them both quite clearly, one was called Brett and the second one was Luke. They were both adorable and had real characters.

  9. I love the picture of that pigeon. In real life she had this iridiscent feathering under the white feathers on her breast. I am going to try and paint her I think. Havent heard yet whether she arrived back home safely.

  10. I would like to know who is the person in the 60 - 70 group???
  11. Happy Birthday Druscilla, hope you are having a good one. If you are in the UK, the sun is shining on your day!

  12. I bought this book when it first came out and I have to admit that I didnt finish it. In fact I didnt get further than where the "hero" gets lost and has the accident killing a black guy. This was because (please excuse me folks), but I couldnt get the hang of the way Wolfe uses the colloquial language of the black people. I am afraid I just could understand it. Tell me Freewheeling Andy/ Nice Guy Eddie, if I had persevered would I have been able to get past that problem?
  13. I have just been reading the thread on "are reviews worth it any more" or something like that. These people scare me to death. I almost feel as if they are taking over this Forum. I dont think I will be posting any more reviews and risk them pulling it to pieces.

Re Maggie O'Farrell's books, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them. No doubt Paula has a few, so I can borrow from her lol. I have written to Welshman by the way.

  14. Did that come after "After You'd Gone"? I think she is a wonderful writer. I am nearing the end now and thinking about what I will say in a review, which I always find a bit difficult.

  15. Sad to say, I no longer have a dog let alone a labrador:irked:. My last one went to the labrador heaven in 1995. I have had 2 labbies in my time and broke my heart when they had to go. The one in the photo is not mine just a photo I found that I liked. Mine were both yellow(golden). Have you read the book Marley and Me? If not please give it a go, you will recognise your dog in it I am sure and it will of course make you cry. If I did get another dog, it would have to be a small dog because at 72, I dont think I would have the strength to handle a labbie. I never pass one in the street, I always make a great fuss of them and labbie owners are the same the world over. I support Dog for the Blind in this country, particularly because my last labbie Luke, was bred from those dogs. Give your dog a hug for me . All the best
