Has anyone heard of or read this series? The books are about orphans who are trained by an organisation called CHERUB to be spies for the British government. If you think Alex Rider, but with more believable plots and characters and less of a James Bond-y feel, you wouldn't be far off the mark. The Recruit is the first book in the series with nine books so far in the series, excluding the World Book Day book.

I've just re-read the series after getting Extras sent to me. I didn't think Extras was as good as the others, but the others were brilliant so I can't complain. Specials was also my favourite in the series, mainly because it wrapped up all the loose ends from the first two books so well but then left it open in a completely different direction for Extras to follow on from. The author is Scott Westerfeld. Also worth looking at by the same author is the Midnighters Series.

I currently live in the NW of England and I mainly read Young Adult and Sci-fi books but I also love books by Ben Elton.
