  3. I still have quite a few vinyl LPs that I cling to. Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel and Ralph McTell, mostly. Also have a couple of Rolling Stones.
  4. I found it pretty dire but lots of people I know loved it.
  5. Did anyone else dislike 'Mamma Mia'? I cringed practically the whole way through it. I know it is supposed to be a 'feel-good' film but the only time I felt anything akin to pleasure was when the credits rolled and I was, mercifully, put out of my misery. The scenery was nice, though!
  6. I agree, Poppy. I've seen both actors turn in some very good performances. It was just Titanic that was so ridiculous. (That bit where Titanic is sinking fast and they are clinging to the railings at the flat end of the ship and she says something like 'This is where we first met' as if it had been years before instead of about 48 hours!)

  18. Kleeneze (I think that's how you spell it) used to sell a device which was a 'bath tray' but with a bit added on that you could use to rest your book on.
  19. Thank you very much. It was a fluke, I'm sure!

  20. Not exactly a quotation but I love the word 'splother' meaning 'a fuss' and coined, I believe, by the lovely Alan Bennett.
  21. Pancake Day is on Shrove Tuesday, just before the start of Lent, and folk used to stuff themselves with the things they couldn't have 'till after Easter.
