  1. I'm hoping for an Argentinian victory (but my hopes aren't high)
  2. Just started to watch this programme. Very impressed with it so far. Brilliant stuff!
  3. Really looking forward to the final and think that Denise will be the first out. I would like Dani to win but think it will be either Kimberley or Louis.
  4. I'm enjoying it so far. Have recorded last week's episodes and will watch them again before tonight's so that I can get more of a handle on what's going on! Very moving moment when Sarah is standing on the station platform watching her son with his girlfriend
  5. So pleased for Michael. Continues to improve and really looks as though he's enjoying it, too
  6. Thanks for posting that, Karsa, it's looking good! I didn't watch the American series so can't really comment on it
  7. A friend lent me 'In a Dry Season' (10th in the series) and I enjoyed the book; liked the detective, Alan Banks, and wanted to find out more about him so started at the beginning. I've read most of them now and, with the odd exception, have loved them. I did find that the stories became darker as the series progressed. I'm so pleased that I didn't see the TV version, 'DCI Banks' first or I may never have read the books!
  8. I didn't know about Ola's mum. Hope she makes a full recovery soon
  9. Delighted for Michael, he looked so happy. Rather hoping that Sid departs 'tonight' . I agree with what others have said about the VTs.
  10. We don't go to the cinema that often. Used to go quite regularly but got a bit fed up as always seemed to be surrounded by people munching, slurping and chattering during the film. However, I would like to see the new Bond film and so may 'bite the bullet' as it were. Favourite Bond film so far: From Russia with Love
  11. I'm loving Strictly again this year but was sorry when Johnny went. My favourites at the moment are Michael and Lisa. I like Louis, too, but I'm always being distracted from his dance moves because my attention is drawn to the top of his head
  12. That's OK, Karsa. If I've got the start date wrong and I get any more info I'll pop back in and let you know
  13. Just heard that the third (and, sadly, final) series of the excellent Danish TV series 'The Killing' starts on BBC4 on the 17th November. The 10 episodes will be shown over 5 consecutive Saturdays. And, if that wasn't enough, we are promised that Sarah will be sporting a new jumper
  14. Bit late for Chrissy but I've heard that that stuff that Vick makes works for some. Not sure what it's called but it's in spray form and you blast it up your nostrils at the first sign of a cold and it kills off the germs before they get a hold, apparently. I like my own 'cure' which involves warming up some cider and adding cloves and cinnamon. Not sure if it works but it makes me feel better
  15. Ophelia

    More football

Was it booked for a foul?
  16. Yes, I didn't manage to catch it but it's had some very good reviews. The play is going to move to the West End for a spell, I think.
  17. 'Kiss Prudence'! Nuts in May was preceded by programme about Alison Steadman, one of my favourite comedy actresses. I'm rather hoping that they show 'Abigail's Party' again soon.
  18. Mike Leigh's excellent comedy 'Nuts in May' is on BBC4 tonight (Sun 6th May) at 1030. If you haven't seen it then I recommend you tune in - I don't think you'll regret it!
  19. I watched the first two episodes and will catch up on the next two via I-player. Really enjoying it so far and am wondering how some of the characters will fit into the story (Social worker; the woman married to the heart transplant patient etc). I'm sure all will become clear soon I thought that the Martin looked like George Galloway, too, Karsa. I also thought he bore a passing resemblance to George Best when he smiled
  20. I really loved 'The Smoking Room' and would be delighted to see it back. Absolutely hilarious
  21. When I first saw this thread I immediately thought that 'Frasier' would be the series I would bring back. But then I changed my mind. In the last programme they had all gone their separate ways, finding happiness etc. and the scenario that I loved about the programme - Frasier, Martin and Daphne living in Frasier's flat and Daphne quite oblivious to the fact that Niles was secretly in love with her - was no more. No. I'm quite happy to watch the repeats!
  22. I loved the film 'Babette's Feast'
