  1. It's more like a bird bath than anything else that's been said so far
  2. It's more like a sculpture than a vase but like a vase it has water in it.
  3. It's more like a sculpture than a statue but like a statue it is nice to look at
  4. It's more like a sculpture than anything else said so far
  5. It's more like a cat than a bowl but like a bowl it has curves
  6. That's fantastic Paula Took me a while to work that one out.
  7. It's more like a cat than a ruler but like a ruler it's not alive
  8. It's more like a cat than anything else that's been said so far
  9. So I discovered this game recently called breakfast combo. Basically someone thinks of a thing (a relatively specific thing e.g. a cup of tea, the statue of liberty, Price Harry, a vase of flowers) It can be anything, living, dead, animal, vegetable, mineral or a mix. Then you have to guess what it is by making random guesses which have replies in one of two possible forms: It's more like X than anything else you've said so far It's more like Y than X, but like X it.... So for example if I'm thinking of a marmite sandwich and someone guesses a lightbulb, I say: It's more like a lightbulb than anything else you've said so far Then if someone guesses bathroom I have to decide whether it's more like a bathroom or the last thing that was more like it than any previous guess so I could either say: It's more like a bathroom than anything else you've said so far OR It's more like a lightbulb than a bathroom, but like a bathroom it's made up of different components. Make sense? Anyone want to guess what I'm thinking?
  10. I feel like I've been reading The Historian forever and I'm not even half way through it I think this is probably because of the amount of stress I've been under lately. My concentration has been terrible. So I'm putting it to one side and I've picked up Search Dogs and Me by Neil Powell, hopefully this will be a bit lighter.
  11. I like the sound of Truth or Dare.
  12. Blue Heaven sounds good BB. Happy reading!
  13. But this thread was originally just about Koontz, not King vs Koontz
  14. Haha - we actually have a thead for this very topic: http://www.bookclubf...__+koontz +king
  15. I've read a few of his: Fear Nothing, The Taking and The Face, all of which I enjoyed immensely. I maybe enjoyed The Taking the most, simply because of its spooky and mesmerising atmosphere. I would like to read more and would probably go for Odd Thomas next.
  16. Not your great British breakfast which can contain bacon, sausage and black pudding.
  17. Ha that's cool. I just had a go. I couldn't get any higher than 2 either. Has Kevin Bacon appeared in so many films now the highest possible number is 3?
  18. I probably agree about the bland. I only got through a few pages before I gave up.
  19. I'm not sure she's announcing that that is the correct interpretation, more commenting on the screenwriters interpretation of the books on film, and readers interpretations. I think she leaves the possibility open, but doesn't close off or even downgrade the face value interpretation.
  20. Ah that sounds lush. Have a fab time with your brother Chrissy.
  21. I feel the same VF, but this review has swayed me a little. 1000 pages though? Eek!
  22. Hmm - that article just highlights why I don't like the Booker. It seems they prize use of language above storytelling ability, but the latter is a skill just as valuable as the former. And why on earth can't a book have both?
  23. FINALLY finished season 1 last night and I loved it! I think it got better as the series went on as i wasn't quite so sure at the beginning (I liked it but didn't love it). But by the end I was hooked. Looking forward to season 2 now.
  24. i caught a bit of this last night and thought it must be a repeat but was confused as to why JR looked so old and why it had a more modern TV series feel about it lol. Glad you've confirmed it IS actually a remake.
  25. The Unbecoming Of Mary Dyer sounds great Nursenblack, just added it to my wish list.
