  1. It's more like a telephone than a computer but like a computer you can speak to people through it.
  2. It's more like a telephone than anything so far.
  3. Thanks Kylie
  4. It's more like a pencil than a crayon but like a crayon it could be used to communicate with.
  5. It's more like a pencil than anything else so far
  6. It's more like a button than a shoe but like a shoe it's manufactured.
  7. It's more like a button than the moon, but like the moon it's not alive (I have the theme to button-moon in my head now )
  8. It's more like a button than anything else so far.
  9. It's more like a puppy than anything else so far.
  10. Thanks both. Do you know, I've never re-listened to an audio-book but I do plan to re-listen to Great Expectations read by Hugh Laurie, and possibly Northanger Abbey too. I loved hearing To Kill A Mockingbird but I think if I re-experienced that then I'd want to actually read it in book form (possibly with a re-listen after I'd done that). I think I would probably want to re-listen to the Sherlock Holmes stories one day too (once I've forgotten them enough) just because they are so entertaining. I generally listen to audio books in the car. I love the experience of having a book to get back to every time I make a car journey. It even makes driving to work feel like something to look forward to!
  11. Not at all. I love this game. It's good to find someone else to play it with OK What am I thinking of?
  12. Yippeee!! Great subject Bree. No you're absolutely right - a snow man is more like a pigeon than a rose-bush, a chimney pot and a fence (even if not necessarily very much like a pigeon!)
  13. Is it a snow man?
  14. Unfortunately you have to try to compare it to the chimney pot in some way (you can only use the 'than anything else so far' on the most recent guess) If it's too hard to compare to a chimney point you could always cheat and use a previous comparison (e.g. man-made) I won't tell anyone
  15. Is it a chimney pot?
  16. hmmm *furrows puzzled brow*
  17. Is it a fence?
  18. LOL - aw hope you're OK and not really bruised.
  19. Wow - you have your reading for the year well planned! I loved this book. Have your tissues handy. I'm reading this right now. I'll be interested in your thoughts.
  20. Your case looks great Noll. I actually prefer it to mine.
  21. I feel like I'm reading faster on my Kobo - or more - or something. I'm not sure why, maybe it's the comfort factor of holding the thing. Maybe it's just more tempting to use a shiny new gadget
  22. Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to my reading this year
  23. Ah same colour as me. I agree it's so much more comfortable than a physical book. Glad you're enjoying it
  24. I really enjoyed The Codex by this author and I need to borrow The Magicians from OH at some point. I take it you like it if you're going to re-read it. I enjoyed both but I think I preferred Star gazing. It was really interesting to read from a blind character's perspective. I think I may have already said how much I liked this I absolutely loved this book. One of my all time favourites. I think it combines great writing with a real page-turning story as well as interesting characters. A perfect combo in my opinion. Look forward to hearing both of your thoughts.
  25. OK - Thread Open So I've started the year with three books on the go: A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle - I'm really enjoying this one so far, though I must say it's a little strange. I'm looking forward to finding out what's really going on as I'm really not sure yet. (I hope things do come clear) The Making of Modern Britain - Andrew Marr - This is really good so far. I'm not too far in but it's written in a very readable and lively style that makes it very engaging. Is It Just Me? - Miranda Hart (audio) - This is ok so far. To be honest I was a little disappointed at first because I thought I'd love it, and actually began to worry I'd find it annoying, but now I've settled into the style and accepted it for what it is I am liking it and finding it quite amusing in places.
