  1. I may take a picture of mine just to blow you all away you amateurs
  2. She is and he is. He's been in it from the start, pretty well a mainstay character in it - he plays the ineffectual, slightly effete Restaurant Manager
  3. Is he gorgeous? I never can quite tell. i quite liked him in Love Soup but as i know him primarily from HB, I kind of think of him as a bit of a drip
  4. In Greenwich? I used to live very near there - I remember Elton John having a birthday party there and the fireworks were great, could see them from my bedroom window I didn't know it was part of the uni now, I knew Devonport (I think that's right) is and remember when that was a residence for the hospital, one of my mates lived there. Cool place it was too
  5. Not had time yet - plus it only came into my house a couple of weeks ago. (I bought it for Dad when it came out and he's now given it to me) Plus it looks quite boring
  6. Yes, the story in 'Arthur and George' is based on truth and I grew up (and know the places mentioned but I've not read it yet) in the village it is set in.
  7. Odd that's he's written nothing since. Or if he has, I've not seen it or been interested in it. I did love the book though but read it way before all the hype so I feel that does affect how you view a book
  8. Thing is though, two of those are brands you are already very familiar with. As to the third; you can't remember the name However, boo hiss Raef has gone. All through the show I was thinking 'Yay, Alex the Weasel Boy will go tonight' then when they had won it changed to 'Oh well, at least we finally get rid of super-sleazeball Michael'. in fact, any of them off that team would have been ok but Raef I still think Lee will win
  9. He liked Tennant in the water
  10. Yes, the 'in a library with a lead pipe' thing. I thought that was a bit of a cheaty cop-out. Or somebody didn't know the difference
  11. That's cheating!!!! They mentioned Murder on the Orient Express? Blimey! They mention Poirot too - right at the start they are asking her why he's Belgian. The book we saw was 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd'. This was first published in June 1926. I think the episode was set in 1926 wasn't it?
  12. An unusual one may be 'Time's arrow' by Martin Amis. One of my favourite books ever.
  13. He also said 'not a stick man or house' so that meant it HAD to be a cat really. Dogs are too hard and boats too obscure and I think these are the next things. Anyway, who got the titles of the Christie books on Saturday? I got 16 did I miss any?
  14. Don't worry Kelly, I read across the genres and still love a good chick lit book. As long as it's a good one that is
  15. I'm having an unusual reading year. Firstly, I've used the library and so am finding authors I may not have read otherwise. Secondly; I'm still off work and so would have thought I'd read more, I haven't really as I fall asleep so much more easily due to the painkillers so am reading little bits at a time and having to re-visit. Mostly the way the year is unusual is that I've only read British authors this year. It's strange but oddly good. I'm seeing how long I can last
  16. I love this book too and have it as one of my favourites. I'm currently sorting out a load of boxes in my house (just this minute found my whole Harry Potter colection up to book 5 and around 30 other books, some to add to Mount TBR) and am hoping to come across my copy of this so i can read it again as I've not read it since it came out in paperback. Feels longer than 18 years ago though I love all the massive footnotes
  17. Cheers. I've got one of her books on Mount TBR. It may bypass the Mount and go straight to Oxfam
  18. Is there? I take it you've read it then? Anything else you'd care to share? Would I like it?
  19. If I haven't read the book, I can't read the spoiler I guess. So, what makes me want to read it then?
  20. As I typed that I could hear DVO and John Botoxman on Ready Steady Cook
  21. I think people view her as 'ours' as she is pretty well the only one we've seen right from the very get go. Even Jessie we didn't get to know until a little later. Some of the others I hadn't a clue about until they appeared on the live shows! But yes, Jodie is awful. Her over the top expressions of solidarity with the outgoing singer when we all know she must be thinking 'well that's me one step closer'.
  22. It was a very poor result. Poor Sarah, sings with the boys and then it's bye-bye. Was inevitable when it was her and Rachel in the sing-off. Much as I really like Rachel, I'm quite bored of her now. And Jessie with her Elvis lip (although she was great with this weeks song) and Super-Sam. I think I just like the interesting characters. I don't count Jodie as one of those though

    deb's 2008 list

    17. Paul Magrs - Something Borrowed The continuing adventures of Brenda and her friend Effie. This book is more of a continuous story than the debut with various parts of the plot taking us into Brenda's past shared with an encounter from the 1940s who reappears in her life. The usual dark humour throughout. For a nice easy read, this is a great little book 8/10 2/3 books read off Mount TBR - I can't buy a book yet
  24. I'm with Janet. It's a day dedicated to singles (plural) and not owned by them.
  25. What I'm confused by is that the team said Sara did very little and yet Ruthless Alex did even less!!!! He even sat (on a number of occassions) and didn't even nod when Kevin was talking (droning) to him But he gets away with his machiavellian behaviour because he's pwetty. He should have gone on week one and only didn't because Nick's argument was poor Anyway, glad Kevin went, he made bile rise in my throat the way he slaughtered the english language and droned on as if he was the most important man in the world. How on earth did this charisma-less berk end up as a Bank Manager??????? Just need to get rid of Claire, Jenny, Helene and Alex now. I think Lee will win. Just something in my waters tells me so. I think Raef would be the most deserving winner (so far) but they rarely win and I doubt SAS would go for him
