  8. Well if you like spy stories you may be best to start off with a Tommy and Tuppence Beresford book
  9. Knowing who did it gives you an entirely different take on them as you read. I shouldn't worry. It's fun to see if you can then see how clever she was with her writing. Lots of her books have never been televised though
  10. That's rather unreasonable of her
  11. Yes, it starts to become Book Crossing then I suggested it as a 'book crossing without the bother'

  15. I loved it by the way, I saw all the inconsistencies and so forth but loved it as a parable and took it as no more than that. Of course the words wouldn't get scrambled like that as he's hearing them in German not English, and of course he wouldn't be allowed near to the fence and so forth, but I just took it as a nice story rather than a historical account or anything similar

    deb's 2008 list

    20. Ruso and the Demented Doctor - R S Downie. I can't believe it's taken me six weeks to read this! I'm sure I've enver taken that long to read a book before. Ok, so I'm trying to get back to full-time work and I'm absoluteloy shattered, but this is ridiculous! It's taken me so long I'm not sure I can give an adequate write-up. Lots happen, many familiar characters (from the first book), I love the relationships in these stories, the humour is still there. That's all a bit 'so what' though. It took me six weeks to read! Six weeks I tell ya! Meh 6/10 It's not even off Mount TBR!!!!!! 3/6 books read off Mount TBR - I've bought one book so can't buy any more
  17. I don't think they showed the topiary task really

  19. I like the sound of your book club Janet.
  20. I've got all her books - I collected them years and years ago and revisit every now and then. I think I may re-read them all but in chronological order of when they were published (not when they were written) Here's a list of them all on wikipedia it even tells you who the detective is in each (if any). Don't click the links though as there are major spoilers in the plot pages.
  21. Yes, you should. And thank you *blush*

  22. I know the feeling. I'm not keen on my 'no-eyes' approach but ho hum
