  1. Read Dark Water It sounds cool
  2. I'm 15, and here are my thoughts... A younger character can be annoying, but is usually quite interesting. An example of this would be "The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas" or "I Am David" - both younger characters, who sound younger but not thick if you get what I mean. Same-age: I don't like books about everyday life, such as the Mates, Dates books. They get on my nerves! However, there are plenty of good books with a character in their teens such as the Pellinor series, "The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime" (about a 16 year old ... I can't think of the right word....I keep thinking alzeimers but it's not that....well it's good, anyway) and His Dark Materials. Adult characters: I like them as long as it's a good plot, story etc. But they can be boring sometimes. It doesn't bother me that they're adults, but it does mean that there can be better "real life" stories, because more is happening to them. I especially like "My Best Friend's Girl".
  3. Ooh, I saw it! It was wicked!! Do NOT view this spoiler unless you have watched episode 6, Reset. The one with Martha in (I know that's kind of a spoiler, but it was on the advert) [Admin Edit: That is a BIG spoiler, so don't look if you've not seen!! Michelle]
  4. haha good one!
  5. woo torchwood rocks!! I saw the first one, have taped the second but not yet got round to watching it, totally missed the third, saw a bit of the fourth (pre-watershed), all of the fifth and sixth (proper version) and then the pre-watershed version of 5 again today. I love them all
  6. Actually, I love being a freak. Freaks rock!!! I have 2 favourites I can think of straight off. They are both from The Gift by Alison Croggon (quel surprise, non?) "Freedom was a fantasy she gnawed obsessively in her few moments of leisure, like an old bone with just a trace of meat; and like all illusions, it left her hungrier than before, only more keenly aware of how her soul starved within her, its wings wasting with the dispair of disuse." It's gotta be the longest sentence ever XD I love it, though. The other - slightly less depressing "She had thought hope was dead inside her, but now she realized that it merely slumbered, like ash-grey embers which yet held a glowing heart, which the merest breath might fan into flame." It's little gems like this that make the Pellinor books stop being fantastic and start being unforgettable

  23. I don't exactly remember this, but my parents used to read to me; I had quite a few favourites I made them read to me I remember once when I was small making my dad read "Daddy, will you play with me" to me when I was in the bath  My other memory is when I was 5, it was my birthday and my parents organised for me and my sister to go pony trekking. My birthday is in December. It was snowing. We were in a forest for an hour. Freezing is an understatement. So, yeah, I was on this horse, first time I'd been riding and I was talking to the girl leading me about this book I'd read. I couldn't quite remember what had happened in it, but I discovered later that it was a Saddle Club book, "Saddlebags". Finally, I remember that in year 2 I read so fast that my teacher didn't believe I was reading it properley and taking it all in, so she made me do a book review after every book I read. Then she believed me!
