  1. Thanks all, really makes it easy to start posting here when everyone is so friendly.
  2. Just picked up a Sony Reader and found a load of the old classics available for download free, as copyright has now expired. Should keep me going for an absolute age. I'll let people know what using the Reader is like versus real books.
  3. Difficult to say. I know there is quite a lot in various places round the house. I collected up around 50 a few weeks ago that I don't want to keep and they hardly made a dent. So I guess I probably have around 500 or so. At an average of say
  4. I mainly read in bed, but long train journeys are ideal to get stuck into a good book. I always take a book when I go to the doctors or for any other appointment where you are guaranteed to be left waiting
  5. I actually really enjoyed A Painted House. Very different to his other stories, just a long slow ramble really, but it was great for winding down in the evening and relaxing. Not one to read if you want seat of the pants entertainment!!
  6. Sorry, I can't help as I haven't read it but I have considered picking this series up so would also like to hear other peoples thoughts.
  7. I usually have a hunt round the bargain bookstores wherever I see them, which often results in picking up books by authors I wouldn't otherwise look at. Also Amazon (of course) and occassionally a few of the other online bookstores.
  8. I get it now, when you say you are into reading what you all mean is you are into reading forum posts
  9. I listen to a lot of audiobooks on my drive to and from work. I used to travel by train and read on the way so audiobooks make up for the lost reading time. I always read when I go to bed to help my mind calm down and relax, and then have an audio book playing to help me drift off to sleep. I've been listening to them since I was a child, I often woke up during the night and I'd put on a tape (Worzel Gummidge or Superted:mrgreen:) to help me get back off to sleep. When I first got together with my wife she was used to going to sleep in silence and took a while to get used to the sound of the audiobook. Now she can't get to sleep without it:lol:
  10. Hi Michelle I've just finished reading Agent Zigzag, which is the story of a British double agent during the second world war. A very interesting read, more amazing since it is true. I've now started on HIVE The Overlord Protocol by Mark Walden, so a complete change!
  11. Blimey, quick turnaround on here. I've been on fora before where you have to wait the best part of a week before you get a response to anything posted:mrgreen:
  12. Good review. I've read a couple of Jasper Fforde's books. At times I have found them slightly too ridiculous and obscure to hold my interest, but after a brak I come back to them and find that actually they are very humorous and witty. I guess I have different moods when it comes to reading, and if I'm not in the right mood some books get discarded for a time:)

    Hi Guys

Well just found this site when googling about books. Amazing just how many things you find by accident. Anyway, I'm a keen book reader and would-be writer, but let's be honest I'll never finish writing anything I have an eclectic mix of book titles and am looking forward to widening that range even further. Matt
