  1. I think you could only be accused of being pharisaical if you insisted everyone used the 1662 liturgy, rather than it being a personal choice. For myself, I'm glad many churches have moved on from their patriarchal rules, not allowing women priests, ministers etc. I also think churches need to be inclusive of all members of society, including LGBTQ. Jesus spoke out against gender inequality, religious hypocrisy, hate, segregation and social injustice, amongst other things.
  2. Dance the Night Away ~ Van Halen
  3. Just discovered Of Mice and Men, Pastures of Heaven and Grapes of Wrath in my bookshelf, so obviously have read them in the past. May have to revisit them.
  4. Thanks Hayley, was just about to message him 😘
  5. I read quite a few of Steinbeck's books when I was young but the only one I remember having an impact on me now was Grapes of Wrath. The poverty and hardships of the poor had a big affect on me. Muggle is a big fan of Steinbeck. I hope he sees this thread.
  6. That sounds quite lovely writing 🙂 Love the depictions of the tide.
  7. Funny 😂 I haven't heard that one before. I can't remember what was on the flip side of the Oh What a Face one. Face To the Floor ~ Chevelle
  8. Oh What a Face ~ Phil Harris ( my parents had this record, I thought it was so funny 😁)
  9. Put Hope For the Best aside temporarily, as it's on my Kindle and after seeing the synopsis for Triflers Need Not Apply by Camilla Bruce I managed to get it as an ebook from the library. Based on the true story of the adventures of serial killer Belle Gunness.
  10. Bette Davis Eyes ~ Kim Carnes
  11. Black Night ~ Deep Purple
  12. That's so effective, especially from a distance you can really see an Italian tile.
  13. Let us know what you think of the Churchill book, I'd like to read a biography about him. And Where the Crawdads Sing is one of my favourite books, hope you enjoy it.
  14. Just finished Harlequin House by Margery Sharp and started Hope For the Best by Jodi Taylor, the 10th book in the Chronicles of St Mary's series.
  15. Anny sounds a very interesting character and you can understand the frustration of the restrictions on single women at that time.
  16. Don't Stop the Dance ~ Bryan Ferry
  17. Stop Your Fussin' ~ Toni Childs
  18. We have had pretty constant rain for days and more predicted through until after the weekend. So far we're faring well but a nearby city has serious flooding with hundreds of evacuations.
  19. I Wish It Would Rain Down ~ Phil Collins
  20. Thanks Chrissy 😊 I first read them yonks ago too, but have re-read them several times. The original TV series is replaying on TV here so have been enjoying that too. Really hope you get over your reading slump 😘
  21. Bad Case of Loving You ~ Robert Palmer
  22. That's so kind of you, Chrissy! But goodness know where that one has skipped off to by now. I have four parcels coming from the UK at the moment, the original two that have gone walkabouts, one that replaces one of those and another one from a different supplier. None of them seem to be doing anything 😕
  23. Were you specific where you wanted the rain? We've had enough this winter and now we're on heavy rain warnings for the next four days, at least! 😳
  24. Must admit I find Revelations pretty unsettling too 😳 Glad you've found somewhere that suits you 😂
  25. Thanks Muggle, feeling a lot better now 😘
