  1. You may want to try one book and then if you like it go for the other 3 in the Thursday Next series. If you decide to try them read The Eyre Affair first.
  2. Choose your order of preference.
  3. Thought I would bump this up to get some more comments.
  4. Your turn to choose: 1. Ercavio 2. Nora 3. Vinho Verde 4. Las Brisas
  5. Now how did I forget already about nabokov and the butterflies. BTW dogmatix, great photo of the butterfly. All Butterflies are beautiful things. I am about 2/3 through chapter 3. I am amazed at his recollection of all the relatives, the dates, their line of work, etc. Wow, what a family.
  6. Ok, guess I will have to buy some of each. I agree your behavior is exemplary. btw, did you notice that dogmatix had kept secret her favorite wine, Eracvio Blanco, from us. I wonder why. I will definitely have to try some. Between you two I have discovered some great and enjoyable white wines. I found this description of "dogmatix's" favorite: Ercavio Blanco "The perfect summer sipper? Light, subtle, and clean, with notes of banana, mango, and papaya, this will blow away any Pinot Grigio at this price." Time for my treadmill exercise.
  7. Are you going to keep the location of this wine a secret. Guess you didn't get over to Calvert-Woodley and fill up your trunk with their wine specials.
  8. If you were going to buy a case, which of the 2 would you buy. Gotta stay on your best behaviour.
  9. Molk - reminds me of my childhood when we would milk the cow. The first time I pulled and pulled and nothing happened. did you ever drink milk squirted into your mouth.
  10. No, no. Open the wine. I am anxious to get your opinion on the two.
  11. Please let me know which of these two you like the best: Quinta da Aveleda Avelada Vinho Verde.........or..... Casal Garcia Vinho Verde
  12. I bumped up the post by Kell that gives a good description of the different reading orders for pratchett in the author thread. Click on the chart provided by Kell. http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=40977#post40977 After you review the chart then we can discuss the different books to start with.
  13. Bumping this up so some of the readers just starting Terry Pratchett books can get an idea where to start.
  14. Enough of that. Go to your room. Yuck!!!
  15. Check out the Terry Pratchett thread under Authors. You will get a good idea of the sequences for reading the books and books that everyone likes....heck, we like all of his books.
  16. I am curious. Have you read The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde yet. If so, what did you think of the book.
  17. How do you eat sea urchins while you are snorkeling. actually maureen, I remember you telling about making the spaghetti with sea urchin sauce. I was too embarrassed to ask about it as I had never had that before.
  18. he and his brother remind me a little of my brother and myself when we were kids. Unwrapping the Christmas presents and looking and then re-wrapping them.......unsuccessfully. My brother and I found where our Christmas toys were hid and had the toys worn out before Christmas and then re-wrapped them....unsuccessfully.
  19. Wow louiseog, I am impressed with the number of books that you read. How many do you normally read in a year. Hmmm, I don't remember seeing any Pratchett on you list, or did I miss them as I sped through.
  20. Rumor has it that we may have another convert to Terry Pratchett. I hear via the grapevine that perhaps "poppy" may be reading a Pratchett book. If true, I wonder which book she is reading.
  21. Reminds me of Charles Russell...........put er down Charlie before she's gone. the great western painter.
  22. Stop that!!!! Care for a little glass or two or three of wine.
  23. I do recommend that y'all give "Ten days That Shook The World" a try. Like I mentioned, it was a long time ago that I read the book but do still remember that it was very good. Dogmatix, I see that Nabokov mentioned you on page 39 in speak, Memory.
  24. I had the "$12.99 Valminor - Albarino White Spain" with dinner last night and was dissapointed. It is OK but the similar in style "Nora" wine is much better.
