  3. Have you, or anyone other member, tried this wine. I am looking fo an opinion on it as I am considering taking a bottle to a wine tasting among friends. Quinta Do Vale Meao Meandro - Vintage 2004
  4. Uh Oh, watched Ugly Betty last night and .......This is a real spoiler so only look if you can't resist. ........
  5. Not if you know how to buy. I once bought 3 cases of 1982 Bordeaux wine futures and it cost me approx $10 or $11 a bottle. When the time came for me to consume the wine they were worth $750+ a bottle and I enjoyed every drop. EDIT: Actually, there are some very good wines that are inexpensive. Part of the fun is exploring and finding the good wines that are not expensive.
  6. We have been invited to a small Christmas get-together that will consist of a Wine Tasting. there will be, I think, 4 or 5 couples and everyone is asked to bring a bottle of their favorite wine for tasting. I am looking for an extra-ordinary wine that is better than what we drink on a every day type basis. I will let you know what I have selected.
  7. Still haven't been able to find any.
  8. I bought a bottle of the Triventa Chardonnay on Thursday. We are waiting for an appropriate dinner to try it with. Will let you know what I think of the wine. actually though, I enjoy most wines just some more than the others.

  13. Not sure as I am apart from my book collection but I think there are 5 of the Earth books. I think my favorite may be 'Valley of the Horses. Now that the subject is up I am somewhat thinking of going back and re-reading a few of them.
  14. I donated over 300 books to the library last year and gave many more away to friends. Our new house does not have the bookcases that our other house had. I still have boxes and boxes of books in our storage area. There are some that I cannot give away. btw chicken. I enjoyed the Ayla books and still have all of them.
  15. My 3 favorites are.....The Stand, IT, and Insomnia......oh, and the Dark Tower Series. Did you see my portrait in the post above, what does it remind you of.
  16. I will concede on your last sentence. Wishing the best of reading for you.
  17. A few of King's other books, besides Lisey's Story and Cell, since the accident: Dreamcatcher From A Buick 8 Wolves of Calla Song of Sussanah The Dark Tower. In addition King has written a number of short stories. I don't think we should write him off yet. Many, if not all, of the above books were very good IMO. I really loved "The Dark Tower" series.
  18. You can't hit a home run every time. I certainly hope he doesn't stop writing. I would hate to think of no more books by Stephen King.
  19. My favorites are also The Stand, IT, and Insomnia.
  20. Wow, tough question. Here is a list of Pratchett books, no quarantee though that it is complete. You may want to start with "Mort". However, wait a few days to see if you get other recommendations on where to start. http://www.amazon.com/Discworld-Terry-Pratchett/lm/R3GNQGXRQBWZEU/ref=cm_lmt_fvlm_f_1_rlrsrs0
  21. Paul, I have been wowed by all of Cormac's writing and if my memory is correct I have much of his major works. Blood Meridian was great writing, but so is all his work. The Road is sometimes brutal but the story is really about the love between a man and his boy and it shows that love can exist even in the midst of terror and death. The Border Trilogy still remains at least tied for his best writing IMHO. It is really difficult to say which is his best as they are all excellent. Cormac's writing is usually not for the timid but those that read him will be rewarded with great writing.
  22. I really like Hilda and wish they showed more of her in the episodes.
  23. I am quite surprised that there have been no comments,
  24. I am only a few pages from finishing Grisham's book.....Playing For Pizza. It was a very enjoyable read for me.
  25. I got "Making Money" today from the Library. Has anyone read it and if so, did you enjoy the book.
