I opened the front door this morning to go out and get the Sunday morning newspaper. To my surprise I seen some plastic Easter eggs scattered about, there were 2 in a flower pot and others scattered elsewhere. They were filled with candy kisses. I brought my wife to the door and she started laughing. The Easter Bunny had come.
I think it was the neighbor's kids across the street. I have helped the neighbor put in a vegetable garden and a week or so ago I played some basketball with their 2 boys. What a nice neighbor they are.
What are you having for dinner on Easter. Do you have a tradition of anything special. We always have:
Baked Ham (basted with maple syrup)
Potato Salad
Pickled eggs (with beets)
Corn Pudding (poppy knows how to make it)
Our granddaughter is going to make a chocolate cake in the shape of a rabbit. (I will take a picture of it)
I love to eat the pickled eggs and beets with horseradish on them.
I bought a mixed case of wine last week, all reds.

We had the Fratelli Chianti with dinner this week, it was ok but not great. I probably will not buy it again, but then maybe I will, as my wife liked it.
Edit: My wife really liked the Fratelli chianta so I will give it a little better rating and classify it as a buy.
Has anyone on the forum read "The Appeal". I am about a third way through it and so far, so good. At this point though the book can go bad or be a good read.
I don't think the flowers will be very impressive this year. We have only been in the new house for a little over a year and it takes quite a while to get flower beds established. I will take a few pictures though.
I got a load of manure last week and am going to roto-till it in the garden either tomorrow or early next week. It is getting very near time for planting the spring crops, spinach, radishes, lettuce, etc.
They really, really, need to be eaten with butter and maple syrup. If you can get buttermilk it will also improve them.
I will save the Pikelet recipe and give them a try. Wonder how they would be with buttermilk instead of regular milk.
Metric or Imperial?
We are having home made "subs' tonight. Maple turkey breast, black forest ham, hard salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, hot pepper relish, and drenched in hoagie oil all on a sub roll.
I am addicted to cereal and have a bowl every morning without fail. I use vanilla soymilk on my cereal. As a last resort you can always use some Triventa Shiraz Malbec on the cereal.
