  1. Thanks, she is getting very close to finishing the painting. She has enjoyed doing it and her friends tell her she should not "part" with the painting as it is very good. Recently, she told me that after she finishes it will still take the painting from 6 to 12 months to completely dry.
  2. My cousin paints, both water color and oil as a hobby. She is doing an oil painting for me from a photo that I selected of Bar Harbor, one of my favorite vacation places. She has been sending me progress photos of the painting for the last 3 or 4 months, or more. If there is any interest I will post a couple progress photos of the painting from time to time. This is the photo that she is using as a guide for the painting. Photos deleted.................no more progress photos, no interest.
  3. Only if you promise to "try" the wild blueberry cheesecake.
  4. hehe, good choice. The food I mean.
  5. BTW, it will be over 1000 miles for us to drive up to Bar Harbor and, of course, another 1000 miles back, but the food is worth the trip. What I will select: 1st night Appetizer - Gulf shrimp and Lobster Cocktail Soup - New England Clam Chowder Entree - Maine Lobster Meat sauteed in butter Dessert - Blueberry Cheesecake made with "wild' Maine blueberries 2nd night Appetizer - Gulf shrimp and Lobster Cocktail Soup - Lobster Bisque soup Entree - Lobster Pie Dessert - Blueberry Cheesecake made with "wild' Maine blueberries I will have wine with one dinner and a bottle of Blueberry Beer with the other dinner.
  6. But, but, but....you didn't select your complete dinner choice.
  7. We will be on vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine for a week. We get a complete dinner 2 different nights that is included in our package rate at the hotel. Included is appetizer, soup or salad,.entree, and dessert. Dessert is not shown on the on-line menu but we always get the blueberry cheesecake that is made with "wild" blueberries grown in Maine. Select your complete dinner. http://www.barharborinn.com/menu.html
  8. Sorry, but I will not tell. You gotta read the book.
  9. How are you progressing with The Stand.
  10. Who are some of your favorite authors and what are some of your favorite books. Welcome aboard.
  11. Great garden Judy and very nice photos. It is really fun to see things grow.
  12. I am going to vacation up in maine sometime in September. Hope that I have time to visit the locales of many of his books. Th last time I was in Maine I got an eerie feeling when driving in areas where his books took place.
  13. But you can still go back and read the others in order ....after.... finishing Something Rotten.B)
  14. Of course you would like it, cause you know that I can't find it here. B) The Polka Dot Reisling was not one of our favorites and we will not buy any more of it. Tomorrow we may go to the Shelton Vineyard and buy a case of their Reisling. It is very good. http://www.sheltonvineyards.com/default.aspx?shelton=61&objId=11 We will also visit http://www.visitmayberry.com/ as we did not go today.
  15. We are harvesting spinach, spring onions, and radishes from the garden. Spinach salads are really good. The tomato plants are doing nicely and all have little tomatoes on them. The cucumber vines are about a size where they will start climbing the trellis that I put in. Zucchini and squash are also starting to vine out. Pepper plants are starting to put on blossoms. Nice time of the year.
  16. I wish that we would get some rain. I planted a Shasta Daisy called "Broadway Lights" and a yellow Cone Flower recently. I also planted a Roma tomato plant in the veggie garden for use in pasta sauce. This is what the Shasta Daisy is supposed to look like when mature.
  17. A few authors that I enjoy are J.K. Rowling, Terry Pratchett, Jasper Fforde, and T.R.R. Tolkien.
  18. I usually have cereal with vanilla soymilk and a banana on it every morning.
  19. Too much shade also makes plants tall and spindly.
  20. I would say that it is common for Coriander to get tall and fall over. Make sure that it gets plenty of sun and then stake them if necessary with a thin stake. anyhow, my two cents.
  21. Wow, my cucumber seeds are already up. I can't believe that it only took them 5 days to sprout from seed. I planted 3 packs of seed and will train them to grow up a trellis that I have put in the garden.
  22. There were 3 books called the Border Trilogy (hmmm, guess trilogy does mean 3). The first one of the 3 was titled All The Pretty Horses. I guess the Border Trilogy was my favorite of all his books. His writing does get brutal sometime and depressing at times, but the writing is brilliant, IMO.
  23. I finished reading The Road and thought that the Pulitzer Cormac McCarthy received was well deserved. My wife also read the book and thought it was depressing. i really thought it was a powerful book.
  24. Vegetable gardens are really exciting and fun. I have 7 tomato plants, 8 pepper plants, and today I planted seed for cucumber, zucchini, yellow squash, and a sweet basil, a lemon basil, and an Italian parsley. Oh yeah, I also planted some more spinach seed.
