  6. I totally agree there! I'm very pleased that he made it to 3rd place, but I really wish that he won. hopefully he will get a break - he deserves it Diversity did well though - but not my choice

  8. I've read all of Jodi's books and I found that this was probably one of her best! Very, very hard to put down!

  10. Oh Louise - you read far more than me on holiday!! Have you read the other books by James Mc Gee? I think that they are very good I'm also reading The Westminster Poisoner at the moment!
  11. we go on holiday on Friday and tomorrow is the only day that I can get to the library. I shall just count request and get it back so that I can finish it

  14. I think I would like to be stuck with Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, David Starkey, Jean Plaidy, Philippa Gregory, to mention a few
  15. If it's by one of my favourite authors then there are no checks!! Anyone else gets the full check - title, front picture, the back blurb, side panel blurb, then I check the style of writing, ramdom reading of paragraphs of several pages and then the price.

  17. Thanks Inver - she tried to take a self-discharge today but I have persuaded her to stay until tomorroow!!! She's gone from needing a priest to fighting everyone today. Hey ho - no-one said it was easy having elderly parents!!!!!!!

  18. She really hasn't picked up since Dad passerd away - lurching from one chest infection to another with heart failure. Yessterday she had started out well but was very ill by teatime. At least she now start to improve

  20. It was a very narrow escape yesterday - I was with her in hospital until 1am this morning. Somehow, she has astounded everyone and all the staff by suddenly waking up asking for her teeth and a cup of tea!!!! Tis very early to say but hopefully she is on the mend. Glad Graeme's Mum is now more settled - it must be a great relief

  22. The Cadfael books are very good - I have read most of them Other ones to try are the Matthew Shardlake series by Susannah Gregory Set in the 1100's, and Sister Fidelma by Peter Tremayne which are set in 7C Ireland
