  1. Kate - this has been on my shelf for about a year and I'm so pleased I got round to it. I found it a fantastic read - I enjoyed it more than The House at Riverton! Despite it's size those pages will keep turning- go for it. A stonking good read Now for the new Ruth Rendell - The Monster In the Box
  2. I much prefer British, especially Morse, Wexford, Dalgleish and earlier crime solvers like Matthew Shardlake. For me, American crime can be too graphic, far fetched and I don't always like the American legal system. Yes there are a few I like but when I am browsing in the library or shops, so many are immediately put back once I know where the setting is. No offense to our friends across the pond but British style is much more gritty and realistic
  3. Kate Morton - The Forgotten Garden
  4. That's been my problem as well Kat. I spend most of summer stitching and as the winter months draw in I slow down alot as I cant see properly. Even machine embroidery can be difficult so it's out with the knitting and the reading books
  5. Not sure what I thought of the Secret Alchemy. It didn't seem to move seamlessly between the War of the Roses or modern times Also I have read Jean Plaidy - Madonna of the Seven Hills and now half way through Christi Phillips - The Devlin Diary
  6. Emma Darwin - A Secret Alchemy
  7. Until I read this, my knowledge on the American witch trials were scant!! I didn't realise how widespread it was in America
  8. I thought that te Heretics Daughter was great Nicci French - Beneath the Skin
  9. I'm about a 100 pages in and I'm loving it!
  10. Kathleen Kent - The Heretic's Daughter

  19. thank you for your birthday wishes - I've had a great day :)

  20. I've requested this one from the library
  21. I really enjoyed amenable women. My knowledge about Anna of Cleves is basic - like most peple's. Made me look at her in a new light St Mungo's Robin - Pat McIntosh
  22. The Devil's Garden was a bit different from Montanari's normal style, but neverless lots of murder and horror. Backk to Amenable Women
  23. When my neighbours started to get noisy, especially after I put the kids down to bed, I played "Don'y bring me down" by ELO at the loudest I could tolerate. It only took 3 occassions and the problem was resolved
  24. It is- although I will have to go back to it next as I have a book that is on request from the library that needs to be cleared. It does look very interesting though, but I have been waiting for the other book for ages Richard Montanari - The Devil's Garden
