  1. Did anyone watch the semi-final last night? We missed most of it as we forgot it was on (we watch it every year!), but there were only two good songs on last night anyway (and they both got through - hurrah!) The 2nd semi is on Thursday night (BBC3) and the final on Saturday (BBC1) - will anyone else be watching?
  2. I didn't make one for Dale coming home today and his comment at lunch was, "Am I not getting a cake today then?" I said I could make him one if he wanted and he replied, "I'll have one later, please!" I guess he likes them!
  3. Unless you get a particularly bad paper cut - LOL!
  4. I just used the olive oil I have on the shelf.
  5. It's OK - I'm on a healthy eating plan too, but this is OK as a treat once in a while, I'm sure. Incidentally, Dale enjoyed his cake and suggested making it with flavoured hot chocolate (i.e. mint or orange) for anice twist.
  6. I made one this morning to have with my coffee. I had planned on saving half for Dale when he came home, but I couldn't resist - I'll whip him up his own later on after lunch - LOL!
  7. 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE 4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe) Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night! I just tried this one out myself. I didn't have chocolate chips, so I did without, and I didn't have cocoa, so I used Aero hot chocolate, but it turned out lovely and moist without being soggy. Give it a try today and treat yourself!
  8. Have a book-tastic birthday!

  9. Best Divorce Letter, ever! Dear wife: I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you forever. I've been a good man to you for 7 years & I have nothing to show for it. These last 2 weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today & that was the last straw. Last week, you came home & didn't even notice I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal & even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in 2 minutes, & went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don't tell me you love me anymore; you don't want sex or anything that connects us as husband & wife. Either you're cheating on me or you don't love me anymore; whatever the case, I'm gone. Your EX-Husband P.S. don't try to find me. Your SISTER & I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life! Dear Ex-Husband Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It's true you & I have been married for 7 years, although a good man is a far cry from what you've been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining & griping Too bad that doesn't work. I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the 1st thing that came to mind was 'You look just like a girl!' Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you can't say something nice, I didn't comment. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork 7 years ago. About those new silk boxers: I turned away from you because the $49.99 price tag was still on them, & I prayed it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed $50 from me that morning. After all of this, I still loved you & felt we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for 10 million dollars, I quit my job & bought us 2 tickets to Jamaica But when I got home you were gone.. Everything happens for a reason, I guess. I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you won't get a dime from me. So take care. Signed, Your Ex-Wife, Rich As Hell & Free! P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl. I hope that's not a problem.
  10. It would also be helpful if you would include the author's name in the title. I'm assuming you mean the novel by Ann-Marie MacDonald and have amended the title of your thread accordingly.
  11. I love Breathless (A Bout de Souffle)! I also adore Plein Soleil (Alain Delon was absolutely gorgeous!). I used to work in an arthouse cinema and every year they have a French Filom Festival. One of the most unusual films I saw during one was Harry un ami qui vous veut du bien (Harry, He's Here to Help). I also loved La fille sur la pont - such an unusual and beautiful film. I like French cinema in general, actually. I'm not au fait enough with film genres to be able to tell at a glance which is New Wave and which isn't, though.
  12. Ben - it's excellent! I also watched the version done by Alyssa - very good too! You should be very proud of yourself.
  13. Horatio is from CSI: Miami. Mac is in CSI: New York.
  14. I'm another serial collecter of pretty notebooks - I have HEAPS of them and I very rarely write in any of them - I just keep them - LOL! (PS I've moved the thread to the general chat section as it's not specifically about writing.)
  15. According to Fantastic Fiction, the order runs as follows: Crowner John Series by Bernard Knight: 1. The Sanctuary Seeker (1998) 2. The Poisoned Chalice (1998) 3. Crowner's Quest (1999) 4. E-Books

Librivox only does classics that are out of copyright, but they're read by regular punters rather than professionals, so it can be a little hit and miss, as you get some books read by several different people and some aren't as good as others, but when you find a good one, it's great (there's a guy called Chip who did The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and parts of Fanny Hill and he is fantastic!). ETA - Sorry, I completely misread and posted about audio books - LOL!
  19. I have this one waiting TBR. I really should get some more reading done!
  20. I saw the 1st season and LOVED it (I'm a HUGE JRM fan - he's such a hottie!), but haven't seen the 2nd and 3rd seasons yet - I'll be rectifying that soon though!
  21. Have a wicked birthday! :)

  22. Very often - they are some of my most vivid dreams!
