  1. My favourite King by far is The Stand. I have the complete, unabridged version which clockes ni at well over 1000 pages & it totally rocks! After that, I loved the anthology Different Seasons - it's the book which has spawned 3 films so far: The Body (became Stand By Me), Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption (obvious which movie that became) & The Apt Pupil (the film of the same name wasn't as good as I expected).
  2. Funn ily enough, the 1st 2 Discworld books are my least favourite (followed by Eric). I love the Death ones, but I have to say that the City Watch books are by far the best. Closely followed by the Witches ones - ooh, they're good for a giggle. And if you're going more for a stand-alone type one, go for the likes of Movnig Pictures - a must for movie fans. GOing Postal is also very good (one of his most recent ones). And Pyramids is a pretty decent one too. I have the entire collection of Pratchett from start to finish & one day I hope to have each & every one of them signed ( a fair few of them already are). I actually have a section on my smaller bookshelf dedicated to Pratchett. Once of these days it'll fill the whole case. I recently read a wonderful recommendation to do with Pratchett's Discworld: "If you're going to read Pratchett, start at the beginning with The Colour of Magic & joy in your heart at the thought that you might never catch him up!"
  3. When I lived with my parents, there was both my mother & myself who weer heavily into bokos. She benig older & having her own money would buy most of the books, though I was able to read them too. As I got older, our tastes began to differ wildly - she likes Catherine Cookson, whereas I always hated those books, & I loved Terry Pratchett whereas she can't get her head round the fact that ther are no chapters. We both always loved a good horror though. Now, there's just me & my hubby at home & he doesn't read at all. I try to encourage him (he expresed an interest in having the Lord of the Rings trilogy as he read them when he was a kid, but they've lain, untouched, ever since I brought them home - I don't like Tolkien, you see). Every other book in our flat is mine & there are literally thousands of them: I have a six foot tall by four foot wide bookcase as well as a 4 foot high by 3 foot wide bookcase crammed with books. I also have 6 large boxes in my spare room cupboard. There aer also at least a dozen more boxes of a similar size in my dad's loft. To finish off, i have a small set of 3 shelves under my computer desk which houses my "to be read" books. All newly aquired boks get put here till I manage to read them, then they get moved to the other shelves. It's a whole lotta reading, but someone's gotta do it - LOL!
