  1. I know - I'm so worried about her - I've not seen the next episode yet and I'm dying to see what happens next!
  2. Garlic-roasted duck breast with sauteed onions and mushrooms, Jersey Royal baby potatoes and honey-sesame seed carrots. Delicous, if I say so myself - filled my tum very nicely and left a smile on my face.
  3. I guess I'm attracted to the darker side of things, as I voted for the Dark Arts book!
  4. I now have a chart to cross stitch the most beautiful bookmark I think I've ever seen! It's from Heaven and Earth designs and has about 90 colours in it or some such thing, so it'll take a while to do, especially as the design is so involved, I won't be able to start on it until later in the year when a) I can print out the chart and I've finished all the major projects I need to get done by September. It looks like this:

Not at all. Hope you're enjoying it here. ;)

  6. And I agree completely. I personally know several people who have far better voices than she does. That's not to detract from the fact that she has a lovely voice, but it's not an amazing voice. It's all down to perception - nobody, looking at her, would think she could sing at all, and then she opens her mouth... Like you said, if she was young and thin, they would have thought differently and, in fact, may well have turned her away as ALL the young, pretty ones do unless they're amazing.

Hi Joe, can you please see our post about using capital letters? I've added them to several of your posts, but they're consistently missing in quite a few of your other posts too. Thanks in advance.

  8. Yes, but I had it on tape too! Waahhhhhh!
  9. All she showed was that Britain's Got Guts! Good Evans - Mum and son can sing really well, Dad has an OK voice, but the daughters are terrible! I know they'r eonly little, but they're dreadful! They should NOT have gone through just because the kids were cute! Flawless - superb dance act that live up to their name! Stavros Flatley - hilarious and genuinely brilliant! I LOVED these guys! I must add, however, I've not actually watched the programme - I just caught these on YouTube.
  10. I still have a handful of vinyl LPs, but I have no turntable these days. I did own one that could have been worth a fortune - I had a mint condition War of the Worlds by Jeff Wayne from 1978, complete with the artbook insert. It was still in its original cellophane wrapper and still had the original price sticker on it. It was pristine. Then I came home one day and found my Dad listening to it. Of course, I screamed and I was so adamant he take it off immediately that he did it quickly and scratched the record. It's pretty much worthless now. I still have it. Or, rather, my Dad has it now. I think he still has a turntable on his stereo, so he possibly still listens to it. I just listen to the version I have on CD nowadays. The funny thing is how I acquired that LP in the first place. A friend of mine was moving and getting rid of his LPs and said I could help myself to anything I wanted. I saw it and said to him that it could be worth a fortune, but he said I could have it anyway - I don't think he believed me! So, not one to turn down such a fine gift, I took it.
  11. I just ordered a bunch of flosses to start work on a wedding sampler that I need to complete and frame by 5 September. I already have the fabric (pale lilac 16-ct aida), so once the floss arrives, I can get started.
  12. Yes. He's an excellent actor - I loved him in both Band of Brothers (as Buck) and Tin Man (as the eponymous Tin Man). Actually, I think he'd be great in a life story of Paul Newman - those sparkly blue eyes are just gorgeous!
  13. THere are 24 episodes total. The camping trip episode is #18, which was the last one I saw. Am desperately awaiting the next one as I can't wait to see what's happening.
  14. The Lost Barkscrolls tells stories in between various books. You won't get lost, but if you read them after the other books, you'll see where it fills the gaps far more easily and you won't risk any spoilers for the other books either.
  15. I agree completely - she has a lovely voice, but I have heard better. The shock of it comes from expectations and judging a book by its cover, I guess.
  16. Happy birthday!

  17. Depends which books I suppose - with the Huck and Tom books you have attitudes to slevery in the South, with The Three Musketeers you have political intrigue, religious corruption with the unscrupulous Richlieu, comradeship of those in service - all sorts of great discussion points. Actually I'd love to do the Musketeers...
  18. I'd be well chuffed to see an American Adventure Classics poll. Or ANY adventure-ish type ones - they can be such fun to read - real page-turners!
  19. I prefer the Old Testament, story-wise.
  20. Two of EACH of the books - they took the whole collection twice over!
  21. There's certainly an old anecdote that runs along the lines of a bookshop being broken into and all that was missing was TWO copies of each of Pratchett's books - LOL!
  22. Aha! I have those naughty cat charts too - we have the same magazine! They're so cute, aren't they? And I love your Greek island x-stitch - it's so peaceful-looking.

    Non Fiction

I'll occasionally read an autobiographt, but only if I'm already interested in the person in question. I also have a collection of books on various Pagan / Witchcraft subjects.
  24. I titally agree, Sedge. Tennant is my second-least-favourite of the Doctors that I've seen (the worst one being Colin Baker - I hated that pompous *ss!). The Doctor should not get romantically involved with his assistants - I don't mind him being interested in someone else (Madame de Pompador, anyone?) but not his assistants.
  25. Ooh, I missed that bit - clever thinking!
