  1. http://www.foodtimeline.org/foodpuddings.html#spotted This page also mentions roly poly - my nan used to make both a sweet version, and a savoury one with bacon.. both were yummy! She also made her own meat-pudding, which was gorgeous!
  2. No Mau, it doesn't. Goodness knows where the name came from!? I did have the 'pleasure' of asking Glen if he wanted a spotted dick the other night!
  3. You're a :star:
  4. I jumped into Beginnings.. and I LOVED it! I really must get the rest.. although I have a feeling my toner may be running low.
  5. Tracey, as I'm too lazy to read back , have you read any of the others?
  6. Sorry, Kell... this one just isn't grabbing me.
  7. Ok, sounds good! If it's not there, I have plan B... Buy 4 from Amazon.. keep 1 for myself.. pass on to other club members for just
  8. Inanna, are you going to look so you can sell it on ebay, or can you then sell it to me?!
  9. Wow, it's selling well on ebay! And look at the postage charges for a paperback! *ponders* I wonder if I could buy 4, and hence not pay postage.. and then sell 3 of them on ebay!? hehe
  10. In fact, it's just
  11. That reminds me of one of my favourites from Creature Comforts.. The cat and the dog are on the sofa, and the cat is saying that you never know what's around the corner. Then the dog replies that there's a shop and a take away. That is my very silly literal humour down to a tee!
  12. Yep, it does sound good - another to add to my list!
  13. You can renew unless someone else has requested them. As Forever Odd is fairly new, there's always that chance...
  14. Well... I'm not sure how long I'll get to keep the library books, and American Gods is so long.. so I started Forever Odd tonight. I'm not sure if I'll read both at the same time. Plus I desperately want to keep on with Child of Time.... Too many books, not enough time...
  15. Raw cabbage - yummy! I like my veggies, but only when I cook.. Glen also overcooks them.
  16. I haven't gotten as far as Kell.. the first bot was pretty good, but the scene she mentions threw me a bit! Trouble is, I also have Forever Odd from the library, and my eyes keep wandering over to that!

Let's see what I can find... Erith.. Some history Apparently it has the longest pier in London.. I've just learnt something new there! lol Slade Green... I didn;t even know this site existed until today! lol
  20. Nope, I haven't. I only got a little bit read last night. I wasn't so sure when I read the back of the book, but the little bit I did read seems promising. I'm not sure what version I have, but it's certainly a thick book!
  21. Tracey's copy went off today, so we should be getting some comments soon. Not sure if anyone else has gotten hold of it. I'm hoping to start American Gods in the bath tonight.
  22. I've just picked up this book from the library, and Kell also has it on her list. We're therefor going to have an extra Reading Circle for it.. would anyone care to join us?
  23. DIG is going well, but I'm not going to say much until others have had a chance to read it first. I've just picked up American Gods and Forever Odd from the library.
  24. Child in Time has gone on hold for now, which is a shame, as I was enjoying it. Devil In Grey is good, but I'm not sure if it's just a gory horror story, or if there will be more to it. Then I have my 2 library books to pick up! Thanks for giving me a nudge to look into my library more, Inanna, and online ordering.. looks like when the system works, I can save myself some money!
  25. As it's not even Feb, I'm going to keep quiet until others have caught up! (Who is reading it, btw?)
