  1. My thoughts:

‘Doctor Mooze’ is a 10 year old boy called Panton, who decides to start his own blog. His aim is to get it onto the internet, so he can make money from the advertising, but it remains in diary form.

The early entries are as expected, with rambling mentions of TV, Christmas, family, friends and girls. It soon, however, starts to take a dark turn, as Panton vows to get revenge on a boy who has taken ‘his girl’. His big brother Toto, with whom Panton has the usual love/hate relationship, soon starts to get involved, with some terrible consequences.

In a way Panton is a typical 10 year old, looking for someone to look up. Unfortunately, the people that he finds bring out a very scary side of him.. although I also couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.

Towards the end of the book, there is a chilling change, as events really spiral out of control. This is a story which kept me reading, needing to know where it would go next - and since finishing it, it has stayed with me. Read it!

  2. Is it just that you're not interested in Twilight Michelle, or that the hype puts you off?

I wrote about it on my blog.. and the comments I received helped my decision! Especially people telling me what a weak character Bella is, and hearing how wonderful Edward is all the time - these days I much prefer my stories to be more realistic.

There's a tiny part of me that still thinks I should read it to make my own mind up, but I still have many reasons for not doing so! :D

I'm sure these techniques will work for some families, unfortunately it didn't work for us and I'm now left feeling that I've wasted time and energy stressing over completing sleep logs and trying various techniques when I should just be enjoying my baby and letting him get on with sleeping how he wants - he'll eventually sleep through the night in his own time - all babies are different.

Kell, this is so true of most of the books about sleep - Bethany was terrible, but the books (and advice from others) made me even more stressed, and feeling a failure, instead of trying to work with her, and her routines etc.

  4. If I remember correctly, the reviewers on amazon who weren't so keen were those who were big Discworld fans. I'm not particularly, so maybe that's something to do with it? I know I described the humour as 'subtle', but I wasn't really looking for that aspect.. it might make a difference that I didn't have any preconceptions, because I'm not really used to his style, so I liked it for what it was..?

  5. 'Specific Authors / Books' and 'Contemporary Fiction' have been merged, and renamed 'Fiction', and it's basically for books which don't fit in the genre sections. As before, if you spot any threads which could be moved into one of the specific genre sections, please let us know.

I've also tried adding a section for 'Plays, Poetry and Short Stories'.. if you've previously posted something which should go there (or you spot something) please let us know, and we'll move it. :friends0:

  6. The headache is usually on one side of the head, typically at the front or side. Sometimes it is on both sides of the head. Sometimes it starts on one side, and then spreads all over the head. The pain is moderate or severe and is often described as 'throbing' or 'pulsating'. Movements of the head may make it worse. It often begins in the morning, but may begin at any time of day or night. Typically, it gradually gets worse and peaks after 2-12 hours, then gradually eases off. However, it can last from 4 to 72 hours.

Other symptoms that are common include: feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, you may not like bright lights or loud noises, and you may just want to lie in a dark room.

Other symptoms that sometimes occur include: being off food, blurred vision, poor concentration, stuffy nose, hunger, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, passing lots of urine, going pale, sweating, scalp tenderness, and sensations of heat or cold.

You get this 2-3 times a week?

For me, as I may have said previously, I get lots of headaches, but my migraines are differentiated by the fact that they affect whatever I'm doing.. it's as if my brain stops working, as I simply can't concentrate.. and usually I end up having to lie down. The 'joy' is when I go back to almost normal after an hour of my triptan!
