  1. I watched it last night, quite enjoyed it, interesting to see a part of Austen's life, albeit speculative, well-acted and beautifully made.
  2. Days of our Lives - Queen
  3. I have this book as I'd heard good reviews.....I will try it, especially as I got it in a discount book shop and only paid about a third of the normal price for it!
  4. Every Day Hurts - Sad Cafe
  5. I guess that's why they call it the Blues - Elton John
  6. Thank you! I'll try to make another one in a different colour, probably purple, but will leave off crochet for a bit, as I want to try mosaic now.
  7. Summertime Sadness - Lana del Rey
  8. My first attempt at making a bag, crochet - next time I'll use double crochet all the way through, rather than changing to treble crochet for the lighter colour, and I made the strap way too long!
  9. Long Hot Summer - Style Council
  10. The Poison Garden by L J Ross - this is the 22nd in the DCI Ryan series, and it's hard to review this one as you need to have read the previous book "Death Rocks", due to the story arc, and the twist ending. The story arc is concerns a series of murders, though at first the cases in the previous book look like either accidents or suicides, but a closer look reveals a seemingly disparate link to the victims. The new book starts with 2 people being poisoned, one dies the other survives, but both knew each other, and once the links between them become clearer, the detectives finally think they have made a breakthrough in their investigation, which leads to cold cases from several years ago being re-opened,and they still have a seemingly impossible task of tracing the person/people behind it all, for it seems as if a network of killers is operating. And one of their own may also be in danger.....which is all I can say! One of the better books in the series. 8/10
  11. Thank you. I think the stones are just paste, not a gem. I've got another set to do in a sort if irdiescent purple/green so might try to do those today.
  12. Same here, in fact Waterstone's in one of my main shopping areas closed down last September. WHS share the Post Office in both my local shopping centres, and apart from a 2nd hand bookshop in one of the centres, there are no other booksellers (not counting supermarkets of course). Plus Smith's sell so many other accessories, stationery etc. It would be a real shame if they went as well.
  13. Just made my first pair of earrings, bit fiddly but not too difficult, but I need good light which is in short supply at the moment! There's also a matching necklace but that will have to wait, and I have another set in a different colour, so I might do the earrings as they don't take that long.
  14. I wondered the same thing about her name! I'd have thought Gwladys looked like a Welsh name?
  15. Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
  16. Well at least it made you laugh! Perhaps you could start a new genre of "bed-wetting literature"!
  17. I was thinking how young he looked too! Little Bird - Annie Lennox
  18. Good question - generally I try to make mental notes, so I make sure I do the review quickly before I forget! Unless it's a really outstanding book, and then I don't have trouble remembering it.
  19. We had a bit of rain and it did get quite windy, I went up to London yesterday and got delayed a bit coming back due to a tree fall further down the line, but not too bad overall. Today was glorious, bright blue sky and sun, we went to a museum in London and had lunch outside! It was quite sheltered. The sunset tonight was amazing too, though it's meant to rain heavily tomorrow.
  20. the Unforgettable Fire - U2
  21. Really interesting, careful with the hammer though!
