  1. Funnily enough I've just ordered another of her books, The Bookseller of Inverness. She also has another series, starting with The Seeker (which features an appearance by Seaton), and I've read the first two of this and can thoroughly recommend them (I have the Seaton books as well).
  2. Yes loads of typos like the one above, also I quite often see a random "a" suddenly appearing in the middle of text, and the book I finished last night got a character name wrong, so it said "Frank" instead of "Fred", which meant that a murder victim had suddenly revived! What? I thought, then re-read it and realised what must have happened, ie someone got the names muddled, or maybe it was predictive text and it picked the wrong name beginning with F!
  3. I hope so! Especially as the weather is now much cooler, and there's not been much sun and therefore heat on them, I've cut all the surrounding branches away.
  4. He was 96. The last of that generation of singers,I think.
  5. My friend gave me a set of the game "pick up sticks", no idea how you play it but the sticks are now being re-purposed as stakes for plants.
  6. Went to the rubbish dump today so the shed is a little tidier. Does anyone else find clearing out and taking stuff to the dump, therapeutic? Although it's slightly depressing seeing how much is thrown out,I remember once seeing a whole crate full of crutches, wheelchairs and other medical aids,so I hope they do something useful with things which can be reused.
  7. Managed to get the grass cut before the next batch of showers are due to arrive.
  8. That sounds awful, hope you're OK. Not the best way to start the week.
  9. Yum! My tomatoes are still growing, slowly.
  10. Brown Sugar - The Rolling Stones (not PC now I know but it was the only one I could think of )
  11. I read this quite a long time ago and I think I felt the opposite to you in that I preferred the second half to the first half! But yes I agree that Richard is rather flat, was he just tagging along with them as he didn't have any other friends? They were all pretty unlikeable as well. I read it in 2006 (my first book group read) and I think it's set in the 1980s, so it did feel quite dated too.
