  1. I felt the same about Revival. At one point, I felt like, who cares I had a very hard time finishing the third book in The Maze Runner series, The Death Cure. By the time I got over half way through, ugh, it was a struggle. I just didn't care enough. Fortunately, I loved the first two. I felt the same with The Giver, predictable and unbelievable. Blah.
  2. Did you finish The Girl with all the Gifts? I'm curious to see how you felt about it.
  3. I'm not too much into WWII fiction, but I must thank you for The Girl in the Blue Coat! I picked it up and am really liking it so far. I have a special place in my heart for Amsterdam. Have you read The Girl From Krakow? One of my favorites of the year! Edit: I hope you enjoyed your shopping spree
  4. Ha ha Summer makes me think of Ayn Rand, I think I spent a month on The Fountainhead (ok, 23 days)! I think I read Atlas Shrugged and Anthem in the summer too. Thinking about it, I guess I choose long history and philosophy books in summer
  5. My puppy chewed my childhood set!
  6. Joe Dobbs was fourteen when Congress discovered Earth. ~Forging Zero (The Legend of Zero, book 1) by Sara King
  7. Amazon recommended a trilogy called The Legend of Zero, I started book one today (Forging Zero) and read the first 100 pages. It's described as a post apocalyptic, sci-fi thriller of alien invasion, space opera and sprawling first contact science fiction . Enjoying it and reading again after a dry spell.
  8. Just wanted to say welcome back!
  9. Culture Club
  10. That'd be awesome! But the viewer would need heavy drugs and 3D glasses
  11. Still Alice. Well deserved Oscar for Moore. Excellent performance, I especially liked Kristen Stewart. Kate Bosworth skinny as ever.
  12. Hmm. That 10th Little House book is a great find! I can't say much cause I might spoil others. I always remember On the Banks of Plum Creek as my favorite, but The Long Winter is so good too!
  13. I just bought some clothes online too, I'm scared lol Yes, sort of. It was below my shoulders, now it's at my ears!

  17. I did too much shopping too. Amazon is evil . I bought journals, bookmarks, shoes, pajamas, a new robe and a few outfits. My mom's Mother's Day presents will be here today as well. Now I'm checking the mail every hour

Chuck Palahniuk Shelby Foote (deceased) Ernest Hemingway (deceased) Tennessee Williams (deceased) Philip K Dick (deceased) I'm going for 10: Philippa Gregory Ken Burns Lee Child Hunter S Thompson Gore Vidal Margaret Atwood Oops- that's 11 . I'd also love to have a conversation with Ayn Rand.
  20. ^^ What she said I often read my short stories either slower, one or two at a time or pick someone with totally different flavor in their stories (ie Phillip K Dick, Raymond Carver). I found my love for reading through that "What if" factor, still am attracted to those types of books.
  21. I just bought a collection of 5 minute essays by Andy Rooney, total departure from what I normally read- it's hilarious
  22. Isn't it because of William I of Orange?
  23. Yes, although Farmer Boy (book 3 or 4 depending on the edition) is about her future husband's growing up (not a spoiler) and that's one of my favorites.
