Oh neat! I've never even heard of that Phillip K Dick!
Started on Mary Boleyn: Mistress of Kings by Alison Wier. Also download the sample of Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette by Sena Jeter Noslund, even though I've struggled with Antonia Fraser's, hopefully this one is better.
Odd, my friend and I were in Paris and met up with two guys that attended school there. They didn't even remember learning about her!
Ha ha, we both disliked Vampire Lestat!
Yes! I was a Roz
I spoke to Mary Roach, one of my favorite interviews... I was actually able to talk to her, instead of not being able to form words like with Rice! I am absolutely obsessed about the bodies of dead people and the 21 grams they instantly lose...for no explanation.
I met and saw 3 lectures by Clive Barker too. Wonderful man.
Oh! I also met Robert Ballard (who found the Titanic wreak) and Buzz Aldrin (astronaut, one of two to first step on the moon... Neil Armstrong stole his thunder lol)
I have a love/ hate relationship with my spell check
I used to produce a famous radio show and she had just entered her religious phase, we had her on as a guest and I lined up the interview. When I called her before going on air, I was mostly intimidated!
I just don't like her writing... Interview With a Vampie was great, I wanted to get to Queen of the Damned, but Lestat...omg. I couldn't read more than 50 pages before I just didn't care about Lestat.
In erotica, I'm not either, but Brite does know how to write em though! It was my own fault because I have no love for Rice. Did see her house in New Orleans however! It was black . And I got to speak over the phone with her, I don't think I could talk lol
Lol, Brite writes erotica too . If I remember, you read Exquisite Corpse, right? Lost Souls is good, not disturbing, but different. I just found out, her name is Billy Martin.
Edit- that is a messed up person!
Ha ha, you'll be the first to hear once I read it
And I'm always off my game lol
Speaking of disturbing, have you ever read any JT LeRoy? He is a persona of a woman writer, but there is quite the controversy... Wiki can tell you the bizarre story of the author. It's almost like this woman was so traumatized, she created LeRoy. Sarah was the first of his/her books I read. The other on is The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things.
Not for the squeamish for sure... but so is Poppy Z Brite
Lol I meant your Boss It's cool you can share that with her.
Great to know about Running With Scissors... I think I might get to it soon then Heck, you might even convert me to Augustine
Noll, that really, really sucks! I am so sorry, I know all too well about not having any money.
I'm feeling ill today, I might just stay in bed. I'd try reading, but my head hurts so bad and I'm pretty dizzy.
I was checking out exactly when Allison Wier's new book about Katherine of Aragon will be released (May 31st, payday isn't until the 3rd, so I guess I'll be waiting.
Anyway, I found a Wier book about Mary Boleyn, which I can hardly wait to read... then Amazon tells me I bought it in 2012 . I guess I never read it!
I liked her too I don't know, maybe they could leave the ending and fry viewers minds lol. It would make a good movie though. I don't have much hope for Burial Rites (Hannah Kent) it was slated for 2012 or something ridiculous. Jennifer Lawrence was set to play Agnes!
Hmm... can't do a spoiler on my Fire. I don't think it's one to say I absolutely hate that my government kills people.
I was lucky enough to see Alan Alda in Glengarry Glen Ross in the 3rd row on Broadway! The play was awful, but Alda was great!
I was also lucky to visit the town of Roslyn, Washington. The Northern Exposure set is the entire town! Moose painting and all. If I remember correctly, it was a town of 300 lol We saw the radio station and general store, but couldn't go into The Brick because we had a 6 month old with us! Sooo disappointing. Roslyn was really neat! Did lots of souvenir shopping
Oh wow! I didn't like The Passage at all! In fact, I hardly remember it, that's how bad I disliked it . Good luck with the trilogy though! I'm glad you are enjoying it, at least
I'm now 25% into Phillip K Dick's short stories (minus Minority Report, which I've read already). I read his King of Elves today and also, from Tennessee Williams omnibus, A Lady's Beaded Bag. Enjoyed both
