  1. I think Dystopian novels are becoming more popular what with the whole end-of-the-world scenarios with zombies, aliens and vampires. They're generally quite gripping from my experience (The Hunger Games, The Road...) and can be quite emotional. What is everyone's general opinion about them? Do you like them? What do you like most about them and what has been your favourtie dystopian novel? I'm currently reading The Farm which is a dystopian novel. It reminds me a bit of The Hunger Games from what I have read and I absolutely loved that novel. I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out and how it compares to The Hunger Games.
  2. Went to start Robinson Crusoe and then gave up after 5 pages. I can't read through his writing style. It's just too confusing. So I have started The Farm by Emily McKay. It's a dystopian novel which I really love and so far it's got everything for this type of novel as well as the teenage romance so common within young adult fiction. Also going to be starting the beginning of a Robin Hobb series alongside this. Read the series involving Fitz and now I'm reading the series starting with Shaman's Crossing so we shall see how that goes.
  3. Some might think I am fat for eating a whole pie to myself. But I love my food.

  4. A whole steak and ale pie to myself.
  5. I finished The Great Gatsby this morning. Now I need to decide between Robinson Crusoe or re-reading Lady Chatterley's Lover for my English essay. And whether to start a Kobo read.
  6. Haha. It's quite sunny today but yeah. Been really wet and windy recently. Probably worse by the coast though.
  7. It's freezing down here in the south-west. So much so I'm ill and yet I wrap up in a coat, scarf and jumper/hoodie everyday when I go out. xD
  8. I don't feel like there is filler in all of them. Sometimes it gives them tension and suspense. Admittedly it may feel more like they're filling in when you're read them all one after the other. The last book is definitely the best. No fillers there.
  9. Started reading The Great Gatsby yesterday. So far so good. I love novels about older time periods. However I prefer it in books like Diana Gabaldon.
  10. The Town. Saw it when I was younger. Got bored though from watching it again but still good.
  11. The Town
  12. I had a chicken and bacon pasta bake.
  13. Come Dine With Me
  14. Haha yeah. I just reviewed it on my blog as best I could. Hard to put into words how I feel about it. xD
  15. Officially finished the last ever Wheel of Time book. Absolutely epic. Best book I have ever read.
  16. Finished the Out of Time book. Definitely agree that the ending was a bit crap. Over way too quickly and hardly any suspense etc
  17. Just read more of A Memory of Light non-stop for 2 hours. Eyes need a break.

      That good is it?

  18. Literally in the last 200 pages of A Memory of Light. So much action! You're all gonna love it. Thankfully not shed any tears yet but giggled a few times. I must have the hardness of an Aes Sedai to not be showing as much emotion. XD
  19. I only have like 2 books on a pile to read but will probably take awhile to read them as I have books on my Kobo I want to get round to. And the books on a pile are classics which I'm only reading as I'm doing literature at Uni next year. Hopefully I do get into them though and start reading them more. I do tend to get a heap of books every so often especially if I find books I like that my family is reading and then I nab them once they have read them. I generally am quite good with not getting a massive TBR pile.
  20. Alliance. Have a few Horde characters but don't play them as often.
  21. I don't have a Kindle but I do have a Kobo. My Kobo has a built-in light feature which I can adjust the brightness but I am unsure as to whether the Kindle can do that. And I generally find that I can read fine without getting any eye strain. You can also change the font size so that should also help with eye strain. I was more worried about whether I would be able to imagine what was happening on the page in my head in the same way but I found that it works just as well. You may also find it useful that you can visit the Kindle store through the Kindle itself and not have to wait for when you're at home. That would be especially useful if you got the one's that can use 3G as then you can browse the store as often as you want and download at the time as well. You may want to choose your ereader based on the amount of books they have within their store. I'm not sure which ereader company has the most ebooks available to their readers but it is most likely Kindle.
