  1. I use that mode nearly all the time. When I type enters just after the [ / quote ] (without spaces) tag, they don't show up.
  2. I think so, let's see if it works. EDIT: Thanks, that's fixed it! @ frankie Thanks to you too . EDIT2: Hmm but then I edited the post and the enters disappeared ><.
  3. Most of her books are standalone novels. According to GoodReads there's two series: Before the Storm (including Before The Storm and Secrets She Left Behind, and Kiss River (including Keeper Of The Light, Kiss River and Her Mother's Shadow). I haven't read any of those yet, but when I read the synopsis of Secrets She Left Behind, the names don't match the synopsis of Before The Storm, so I don't know if it's correct or not. I own Keeper Of The Light but not Kiss River (Her Mother's Shadow isn't out yet in paperback as far as I know). I do know that that's a series, because in an interview the author mentioned this. I've only read four of her books, I found The Midwife's Confession and Breaking The Silence the best, so I would start with one of those (out of those I've read). I'd go for The Midwife's Confession, maybe I'm biased since that was my first book by her, but I really love it. There were so many plot twists I didn't see coming, Breaking The Silence has of course plot twists too but I could predict a few of them. P.S. How do you put "enter's / new lines" after a quote? What I used to do (pressing enter), doesn't seem to work anymore. Thanks! I haven't won any fiction books before (well, I've never entered a giveaway that had one as a prize), so this is pretty exciting. I have won cookbooks before (I was pretty surprised I won there, too!), they're great though I need more time/energy to really make some recipes etc.
  4. I look forward to hear what you think! I've heard good things about them but I'm not sure if they're my kinds of books.
  5. I think I'd read A Memory of Light instead, in that case.
  6. I've just got a message that I've won The Stag and the Hen Weekend by Mike Gayle in a giveaway (from http://debrasbookcafe.blogspot.com/) !! I don't normally enter giveaways, this is pretty awesome . I'm currently over halfway in Penny Vincenzi - Forbidden Places and a few chapters into Suzanne Collins - The Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire. Both are pretty good so far, I look forward to read more later today. EDIT: Now that I look at it, I'm about two thirds into Forbidden Places.
  7. I hope you have a good year reading! I own Kafka on the Shore, it's on my TBR. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it, I've heard good things about it so hope I'll like it to when get around to reading it.
  8. How far in are you? Are you interested to know how it will end?
  9. Enjoy! I look forward to read what you think of it.
  10. I picked up New York at a book fair, it sounds quite interesting. I'm tempted to buy ie. London sometime.
  11. Wow, that sounds like a really tough situation. I'm not sure where you live, the law is different in different countries. I think in the US, in the case of sexual assault charges they assume the person is guilty unless proven innocent (at least, that's what TV shows make me believe? I'm not sure if it's true). Where I live, I think this is less the case, as far as I know we (here in the Netherlands) always assume innocence unless proven guilty. Anyway, if you are innocent and it can be proven, it's stupid that the police won't listen >< . I hope things work out for you somehow. @ tragic life stories I've read some life stories with tragic elements, ie. Anya Peters - Abandoned Kirstin and Hannah Jones - Hannah's Choice Some more are on my TBR. ie.: Dave Pelzer - A Child Called It (and the next two books by him) Torey Hayden (three of her books) David Thomas - Tell Me Why Mummy I haven't bought any tragic life story in a while, I guess I'm not really into them as much anymore, or something (tbh I haven't seen them around as much either, in a book fair or shop). I have to admit though those I've read where pretty good.
  12. That's such a pretty copy! I'm a little jealeous
  13. Awww . I hope you'll enjoy your next read better.
  14. Here's a little video of Boris and Pamuk playing together:
  15. I don't think I'm very good at these things..
  16. I've added Ugly to my wishlist, could be an interesting book to read .
  17. Hey, I only joined this forum this year so you probably don't know me and I don't know you, but I wish you happy reading this year! There are quite a few great books on your TBR list .
  18. I wasn't sure if this should be in General Book Discussion or General Chat, since it can be about books but doesn't have to be. I like to read people's blogs and while I know there are a few of you who have a link in their signature, I thought it might be nice to make a topic about it. I follow a few book blogs, also from some people here. Anyone has a blog that may be interesting to read (that I don't already follow)? I have a blog but I haven't posted on it in a while. It wasn't just about books, it was also about my university work and other things. Not many people actually seemed interested (my family is usually too busy to read it for example) so after a while I kind of felt like I was writing for myself and why would I need a blog to do that, I mean I don't necessarily need to put my thoughts online then. I enjoyed it though at the time. I could always start writing on it again.. hmm. I do like to write. I quite like that here on this forum we can all have our own book topic and write our reviews there, that's really quite nice . On occasion I watch some YouTube videos (book vlogging I guess?) about books, where people talk about the books they read or purchased, and show them. There aren't many channels I watch regularly. To be honest, due to my condition I can't watch as many videos as I'd like since it's too tiring. I was wondering if there's anyone here who does something like this too (or am I the only one watching YouTube videos about books)? The thing is that most of them that I find (ie. by searching 'books' or something through YouTube (or book haul, book shelf tour)) seem to be younger people reading Young-Adult (often Paranormal) books. I've found a few though that read more adult books and whose videos are interesting. Not that there's anything wrong with Young-Adult or Paranormal, but I think there are many other great books out there too.
  19. That's a great bargain, I already have them and don't live in the UK but.. XD. I don't think HMV is doing all that well (unfortunately), based on what I've heard, but I could be wrong of course. I always like to go there when I'm in the UK, it's a nice shop. More on topic: I'm reading Catching Fire atm, I've read a few chapters so far and the story is already quite intriguing, being a continuation of the things that happened in part one, The Hunger Games. I look forward to see where the story will go / how it will develop.
