  1. The Lost Man sounds like an interesting read!
  2. I'm reading Peter V. Brett - Demon Cycle 5: The Core. I remembered I had some short story that take place in this series, so I've temporarily stopped my read of The Core (I'm partway through it) to read these short stories. I read Brayan's Gold yesterday and am maybe 75% through The Great Bazaar. Then I've got Messenger's Legacy to read, and after that I plan to continue with The Core. Since the read-a-thon is this upcoming weekend though I'll not be reading The Core for the read-a-thon but will instead turn to my usual graphic novels & manga etc.
  3. The Pursuit of Happiness by Jennifer O'Neill
  4. Welcome here !
  5. Happy Birthday Muggle!!
  6. What a great idea for a topic! Matilda is one of mine too! It taught me adults don't always know better, to want to read lots of books, to be kind and it made me love magic. A more recent one is Queens of Geek (by Jen Wilde), it made me realise it's possible to have autism and have anxiety too. It got me to look more into my own anxiety and seek help for this. Hmm.. anything else.. I'll have to think deeply. I can't always remember the exact title of books I read in my childhood (because they were library loans).
  7. A couple of new reviews. Meg Wolitzer - The Female Persuasion I liked this book but I also had a couple of issues with it. The first chapter in particular, was hard to get through. The writing meandered quite a bit. But in the end I did enjoy reading most of this book (other than the first chapter). Peter F. Hamilton - Night's Dawn 3: The Naked God (re-read) I loved re-reading this book and finishing off the trilogy.
  8. I hope you'll be able to get some nice reading done .

  11. Sounds good ! I look forward to it .
  12. unknown (I don't know what that is, and Google translate wasn't being helpful. So, since no one else posted, I'm going with 'unknown').
  13. Happy Hour in Hell by Tad Williams (Bobby Dollar, #2)
  14. I've read A Dreadful Murder by the same author, though I didn't know she wrote historical fiction as well. A Dreadful Murder is a historical (based on) true-crime book (novella length) and I liked it. Glad you enjoyed The Last Hours enough to buy the sequel, I hope you enjoy it .
  15. Hi Karen! The next read-a-thon is scheduled for the 5th, 6th and 7th of July. Would that work for you? We could change the dates if it doesn't.
  16. The Midnight Hour by Benjamin Read and Laura Trinder.
  17. This Charming Man by Marian Keyes
  18. Thanks ! Glad you know what I mean . Thank you Hayley!
  19. Some thoughts on the books I read during the BCF June Read-a-thon: Here's what I read: Yoshitoki Oima - A Silent Voice 4: Volume 4 (a nice continuation) Natsuki Takaya - Fruits Basket 5: Volume 5 (re-read) (enjoyable) Natsuki Takaya - Fruits Basket 6: Volume 6 (re-read) (enjoyable) Gigi D. G. - Cucumber Quest 4: The Flower Kingdom (a disappointment) Skottie Young - I Hate Fairyland 3: Good Girl (I liked this one a lot) Nagata Kabi - My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness 1: My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness (interesting read) Vera Brosgol (col. Alec Longstreth) - Be Prepared (nice read) David Small - Stitches (this was an interesting graphic memoir) Gene Luen Yang and Thien Pham - Level Up (liked this one more than American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang) Ngozi Ukazu - Check, Please! 1: #Hockey (a disappointment)
  20. Yay for a Poppy reading (b)log ! It looks like you've been reading a mixed bag of books, with some really nice ones and some you really didn't like. I look forward to follow your reading (b)log for the rest of the year !
  21. Congratulations on your Kindle, Hayley ! I hope you'll enjoy it. I use mine mainly for reading short pieces (that aren't released in paperback) and e-book only / self-published authors. I don't often read from it, but it's very easy for travelling. I hope you'll get to read some more books this year .
  22. Hi BB, it's good to see you again on the forum . I agree with Hayley, maybe just write a short sentence of something, on each of the books, otherwise it's such a daunting task!
  23. I have a few of Rutherfurd's books on my TBR, glad you are enjoying London so far !
