  1. Who Let the Dogs Out by Baha Men (I'm not actually that keen on this song.. but it was the one that came to mind)
  2. Young Wives' Tales by Adele Parks
  3. M Is For Autism byThe Students of Limpsfield Grange School, Vicky Martin, Luna Pérez Visairas
  4. Haha! 3rd time's the charm? I hope you enjoy the story . I haven't read the Night Angel trilogy yet, maybe someday though . I did read the beginning of book 1 some time ago but I put it down again as I wasn't in the mood for it. I really liked Poison Study. I've read Poison Study, Magic Study, Fire Study, Assassin Study (free short story I read on the author's website some time ago), but not yet the newer books in the series. Amazing you found them at the charity shop! I did read Storm Glass, Sea Glass and Spy Glass (taking place in that same world). I also read Stormwatcher by the same author but that's a contemporary fiction middle-grade, so not at all related to the Poison Study series. I re-read Poison Study and Magic Study in the one of the recent years but I haven't felt like re-reading Fire Study yet. I wanted to re-read the trilogy as I don't remember enough to continue with the newer Study books. Anyway.. happy reading!
  5. I read an omnibus containing The Copper Beech and Evening Class many years ago, and liked it okish at the time. I don't remember much of it, though I think one of the two involved religion, and I wasn't too keen on that aspect of the story (at the time). I liked both Star Sullivan and Full House, two QuickReads releases by Maeve Binchy, which I read some years ago. I haven't picked up anything else since by her. I think liking that omnibus so-so kind of put me off trying more of her work, but maybe I'll read more of her some day. I did quite like the two QuickReads novellas.
  6. I don't know if anyone is interested, but I made a video showing an overview of my book shelves. It's a long video, so I understand if no one is interested, but I thought I'd post it just in case anyone would like a closer look at my bookshelves. Reading wise, I'm currently working my way through my library loans. My next read will be a Geronimo Stilton book, I borrowed a few of them from the library. Reis door de tijd 8, is my next read. Here is the list of library loans, though I'm certain I won't get around to the longer ones, as I have only a few days left before handing them in. Oh well, I could loan them again another time. I've read some already, I've read the Spy School books, the autism memoir, the autism information book, Oomen stroomt over and I've read some of the Stilton books. Phil Earle (ill. 7. I liked Where Did You Go, Bernadette? too . I didn't love it but it was an enjoyable read . Great reviews!
  8. It's nice Coran can stay at her sister's house . You definitely deserve a holiday after having to cancel earlier ones, so I hope you'll have a wonderful time and that you can recharge your batteries (so to speak)! I always miss my pets too when I'm on vacation, it's nice your neighbours will look after your cats but it makes sense to me you'll miss them.
  9. Recent reviews. First off, Proud, an LGBT+ UK YA anthology of short stories, poetry and art on the theme of pride (by various authors, edited by Juno Dawson). I quite enjoyed this collection. Graphic works of our April read-a-thon wrap-up, most of these were nice reads. My favourite one was Kid Gloves, Lucy Knisley's memoir on pregnancy. And lastly my review for E. J. Copperman's Night of the Living Deed, book 1 in the Haunted Guesthouse series. I enjoyed this one a lot.
  10. I had a look through my list, and while I've read some nice books this year, there's only a couple that'd be called favourites, most of the books I read range from enjoyable but not perfect to meh it's okay. I don't think the favourite books are what you'd be interested in though, but I'll list them anyway. Bianca Toeps - Maar je ziet er helemaal niet autistisch uit (Dutch autism memoir I recently read) Debbie Tung - Book Love (comic strips about books and reading) Ellen Forney - Marbles (graphic memoir about a woman with bipolar disorder) Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau - Bloom (graphic novel about two teenage boys in a bakery) I hadn't really noticed that most of the books I've been reading, have been enjoyable but not perfect, and not many new favourites! So, thanks for bringing that up, maybe I need to be more selective of what I choose to read, or something. I don't know. Maybe I've become more critical! I'm trying to be .
  11. I'm so sorry about your mum! It's nice of you to help her out. It's nice you managed to do some reading and enjoyed it . Best wishes to your mum . I'm glad you really enjoyed your reading . Good books can certainly do that, put one in a book hangover!
  12. I have this one on my wishlist, I'm waiting for a smaller sized paperback release though. It's good to know you liked it .
  13. Have fun with your time off and on your hike !!
  14. I hope you enjoy reading today if you decide to read ! It's nice it's a bank holiday weekend in the UK. It was Liberation Day here yesterday (5 May). I read a bit more in Maar je ziet er helemaal niet autistisch uit by Bianca Toeps yesterday, I've almost finished the book. How did everyone else get on with their reading this past weekend?
  15. Great review! It's a shame about the last third of the book . I'm glad it was still a nice read and that you enjoyed it more than the usual book club book.
  16. I heard about that too, it's sad . May he rest in peace.
  17. That one looks interesting! My library's selection of graphic novels & comics is also more geared towards boys as well as children/YA in general. They don't have a lot of graphic novels for adults except the boyish ones (superman, batman, game of thrones). Most of the ones they have in the section are actually short comics written for mostly boys, sometimes for all genders.
  18. I haven't read that particular book, but it's true about the racism and AC . I've heard And Then There Were None is one of her better works, but I only have the book with its original racist title and I can't yet bring myself to read it. But I also refuse to pay full price for a book with just a new title when I already have 3 (!) copies of the original work (one was a gift, the other two are part of omnibusses that I bought for other works in those omnibusses). And yet there's the dilemma of the title, not sure how the actual work is affected. I'm still reading Maar je ziet er helemaal niet autistisch uit by Bianca Toeps, it's a really good memoir, I'm liking it a lot and find myself wanting to savour it so I'm taking it slow and not wanting to rush through it.
