Hey y'all! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'm late, its who I am My New Years Resolution is to embrace the madness of me. Glad to "see" you Abbey! Glad your kitty made it home Michelle! Congrats on passing your exams Sabry! I'm sure I missed others but the spirit of good will is here Nothing much going on here. Christmas was interesting to say the least. Unexpected family things that popped up and all. New Years was spent doing laundry, wrestling the minions, that type of stuff. My holidays seem to resemble every other day. Not sure if thats good or bad but it is what it is. Not too many complaints. Got lots of books set aside to read during the winter and a new adult coloring book to wile away the hours (yeah right!) and plenty of little ones under foot. Seeing as I'm out of the workforce indefinitely I need to find something that gives me my own sense of identity that is separate from being grandmommy. Supposed to take the kids to the library but I'm not brave enough to take 5 kids out (3 of which need to be strolled) and its cold outside, so... we'll see. Maybe when hubby wakes up I'll take the older boys to see Star Wars! Of course there's always reading Have a great day everyone!

Talk about weird. You're a year ahead of me. Its still 2015!

Amy and Sheldon....oh my!!
-
Best of luck Sabry! I've been out already to drop the boys off at school and to make a quick run to the store. Back home and doing a little tidying up and then off the ankle. My laptop and books are right by my side.

Rick Steve's European Christmas Special. I really enjoy watching this every Christmas. I love seeing how different countries/cultures celebrate the holidays.

Happy December!! Just picked up my new progressive glasses and boy do they feel weird!! I'm so glad to have them as I've been getting so tired of dealing with the contacts every day. No more picking at my eyes and keeping up with reading glasses! Its been almost 2 years since I've last worn specs. Can't believe I let it go that long!

Sitting here with my ankle swollen and wrapped. Doctor said arthritis has set in and there's not much that can be done about it. Ugh. Trying to maneuver around this tiny house with crutches ain't my cuppa.

I just picked up a copy from my library and I'll say this, she jumped right in there. Galbraith seems to increase the pass of her novels with each new work. Silkworm disturbed me for weeks after reading it and while I'm a bit apprehensive about this new one, I feel a bit adventurous so I'm going in, gungho. Has anyone else read it yet?

Thanks y'all! I woke up Wednesday morning feeling a little melancholy and I will occasionally replay the scene again. Each time I come to the same conclusion, except that I've added a few more choice words to lay on him. My family has been really supportive. Things will be a little tight but not "undo-able." While my income is gone, hubby's disabled veteran's benefits have increased. It actually replaces my income. Plus his job is going really well. We'll do fine. Right now I just have to get passed the anger and desire to toss crap on his car! lmbo!! Alas, he's not worth the crap. OABN (On a better note!) Dinner was a success, all the little minions gobbled it down. I don't have to spend the evening cleaning (cause its done) no chores to do (done also) and no place to go (hate going out on holidays). All in all, its a good day!

Went to work today and quit my job. I loved my work but my supervisor has been exhibiting some disturbing characteristics that caused all hades to break loose. I'm a great employee. I'm also the type that will own up to my screw ups and will do what I need to make it right. My former supervisor was the type who would watch me make mistakes and then put it on his "list." He'd wait for weeks on end to come at me with something trivial that I'd supposedly done. He'd wait til the incident was so far in the past that I would struggle to recall what he was referring to. Once I remembered and would explain what it was I was trying to accomplish, he'd act like he was laying a trap to catch me in a lie. For real. I'd come in to work, say good morning with a smile only to have him go into full on "petty" mode. I'm like, "can't you at least say good morning first?" I tried talking to him about it but what can you say to a self righteous preacher (he is a church elder) who is unable to admit that he's part of the problem? It was always my fault. I'm just not built to put up with that kind of crap. Anyway, last Friday the office had its Thanksgiving luncheon. The food stayed in the fridge over the weekend. He put it out on the table early in the am. It remained out all that day. By the end of the day it was not only unhealthy but disgusting looking. King Petty told me to dispose of it so I did. I had to go on an errand this afternoon and when I came back, there was a snarky email from the office manager telling me that I was out of line for tossing the food. wth? I wen to her office to let explain to her that I would not have tossed out the food without getting the all clear. As I was telling her that I was told to get rid of it King Petty walked by. I asked him if he could explain to her that he had told me to get rid of the food. He looked me dead in the face and told her "I never told her that." I was floored. Had HE just admitted it, she would have shrugged it off but by laying the blame on me and denying it, he called me a liar and he did it in front of the office manager. I was livid. I have always been of the mindset that I will be loyal to my employer if my employer is loyal to me. When he did that all bets were off. After that, there is absolutely NO trust. What surprised him was what I called him before I left. He actually thought that I was going to just shrug off how he humiliated me. Time to reevaluate what I want to do with myself. I just can't find myself in this situation again.

Did anyone bring the feathers? Tar?!

I'm finishing up the Discovery of Witches trilogy. Very engrossing series. I was sometimes exasperated by Harkness' ability to just drag out a passage and often times her descriptions were overly detailed, flowery and the vocabulary? Wow. It's obvious that she's a very intelligent woman but often times I had to wonder "who was she trying to impress?" But overall, I did love the series (started back in July). Next on the chopping block is Ulysses (James Joyce) and I'm finishing up with P.D. James, Death in Holy Orders.

I don't think there's another thread on weekend doings but if there is please feel free to delete this one! I'm sitting at work watching the clock because the witching hour starts at 4 around here. That's when my coworkers come to me with massive amounts of missives to be processed through our in house postal service and last minute runs need to be made. I like to take a break before it happens because crap and fans are prevalent around here, lol! While sitting here gathering my thoughts my mind ran across what to do this weekend. Then my mind got to wandering about what everyone else was doing this weekend! For the first time in months, the kids/daughter will be out of the house (visiting their paternal grandfather) so the hubby and I have the weekend to ourselves. As he doesn't get off til the wee hours on Saturday mornings I usually get the kids dressed and out to do fun things geared towards them. THIS Saturday I am going to do my usual early morning housework, then hit the bookstore. I might see if the street market is open. I haven't heard anything since the flooding. If its a no go then I'll do a little thrift store shopping then head home. By then hubby will be up and we may go to the State Fair as I have free tickets. Come home and have a grown up inspired dinner and a restful night. Maybe we'll go back "home" Sunday to visit family and attend church. What's up for YOUR weekend?

Half way through The Book of Life, by Debra Harkness then I'm jumping in for a long read with Ulysses. by James Joyce. I don't know why but the change in seasons has me wanting to read this particular book. Go figure. It's safe to say I'll be in there for a while!

Good luck Lily! Monday has started off feet first. Got the two oldest off to school and got turned around going to work because my GPS decided it wanted a go at me. I've had to find different routes to work because of the roads situation after the massive flooding my state experienced a little over a week ago. Got to work about 4 minutes late and have been going nonstop (til now). When it quiets down I'll be poking around on nanowrimo for a bit, getting caught up on goodreads and jotting down some ideas. I might slip in a bit of reading before my lunch. It just takes a little manuveoring here and there but I'll get it done!
-
Even though it's Monday I feel really good and managed to get lots accomplished today. Got the bills sorted, ran some important errands, made some necessary calls, etc, so all in all, a good day. Spent the weekend deep cleaning and disinfecting my home. Seems all the little ones had something or other running. After a deep cleaning all feels MUCH better now! I can pretty much relax when I get home and actually enjoy the children before holing up in my bedroom, lol! Kids went back to school today on a two hour delay. They'll be doing this for the rest of the week. The state is slowing getting back to some form of normalcy. OAN: Went to the local florist to pick up the weekly company flower arrangements. I walked in to this florist shop that seems to have vomited Halloween from back door to front door. Its been like this for weeks so I'm used to it. What I WASN'T prepared for was the Christmas music. Yes, Christmas music and Halloween decorations. My brain hemorrhaged.

Thinking I'm going to get it for the grands!

Returned to work today and it feels weird. Everyone is putting on a brave face. Several of my coworkers have lost quit a bit. One had her lower level flooded out and they lost both vehicles, several of the law partners had sever damage done to their homes. On the surface, at least in the immediate area, things look normal. The electricity just came back on but we still have to boil water which means no coffee....Its really bad when there is no coffee.

Ventured out today and picked up some necessities. I REALLY needed to get out from under these little ones! As the sun is shining I decided to knock out the laundry and bring out the comforters and afghans to freshen up. I managed to get all the littles bathed earlier today so that's out of the way. Hubby went in to work last night for his regular shift (2000-0400) but as some of his coworkers couldn't get in because of the roads, he didn't get home til noon. Now the house is clean and tidy (considering 5 kids, three adults and one dog). Dinner will be put on soon and then I just need to wait for a word from work to find out if we're going in or not. I did order some much needed new boots, a rain coat and a nice messenger/bucket bag. They'll all arrive tomorrow Can't wait!
-
Feel better Noll! I've got 3 littles in various stages of the crud. I always lay down a large sum during September/October to get the house ready for the nasties. I've also been getting my freezer stocked so I won't have to go out in the mess or when I feel to ill to move. Things have been to busy around here. Between work, babies and dd moving in, life is hectic but in a peaceful way. Our dd was living in a dark place. Her father in law is a right p.o.s and it just wasn't working, especially with her hubby in Cuba. So, she's here and she's doing much better which means we are all doing better. She can help care for her kids and we can help her. Today is a day when everything stops. The rain is relentless and we've been STRONGLY advised to not leave home unless its because of flooding or life and death. The schools are closed tomorrow. So we are in various rooms doing whatever we need, to be contented. Pretty much a nice Sunday considering everything.
-
We are at the highest level the state can issue for weather emergencies. Roads are closed. Downtown is awash. I don't foresee going to work tomorrow. I'm worried about all those homeless people that hang out down there. We have a shelter but I don't know if it can accommodate so many. Because its raining so hard my dog wont go out to do her business and she's thrown up three times this morning. She won't eat or drink because she knows doing so will make her have to go, so she has cut herself off. Sigh, as inconvenient as it can be there are some folks that are REALLY catching it. We've already had 4 flood related fatalities.People will NOT stay home when told to. Ugh.
-
Most of my state is under flood watch. Epic.

Playing with my new Dell laptop with Windows 10. It REALLY takes some getting use to.

In the end I just created a new page. I swear I'd get off of it if it wasn't for family. I still haven't even heard from Facebook since it first happened.

That feeling you get when you get a great recommendation for a book and no matter where you look, it can't be found. Ugh.
