  1. I've read another 50 pages or so of Merrick by Anne Rice. She's such an amazing writer! I'm considering buying Angel Time (also by Anne Rice) to see if this series compares.
  2. I loved this book too! Amazing stuff! I've had my nose stuck in a book for the past few days. I've read the Vampire Diaries: The Return - Shadow Souls by LJ Smith and Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. The Vampire Diaries was actually pretty good....sooooooo much better than the early books. The setting for this book reminded me a little of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. The final book in the series is rumoured to be out in July (Amazon) although everywhere else I've been says December Hush Hush was also a pretty good read based on Fallen Angels and the Nephilim race. The story was YA so it was pretty easy going. I bought it on a whim and read it in a full day.
  3. I know what you mean. If I've just finished reading a really good book, it takes me a while to find another that would live up to it. I usually only have one on the go at a time and if I do have 2 on the go, it's usually because I put one book down to read another. Then once that book is finished I'll start the original book again. I'm a one stary at a time kind of gal.
  4. Still in the middle of reading Merrick but finished Vampire Diaries : The Return - Nightfall by LJ Smith. Overall, the storyline was much better than earlier books but I noticed quite a few spelling mistakes and words used in the wrong place etc.
  5. My books have the blonde woman on the cover too but I quite like the series tie-in covers. I have Dead to the World with Eric on the cover and would quite like the rest. Crikey! I wonder who they could cast to play him.....I always imagine him as being a Vin Diesel type. Baaaaahhhhhhh! I'm loving your avatar Stephanie!
  6. Ney Nienna! I joined weightwatchers last summer and lost 20lb ish. I stopped in the Autumn and have gradually put about 6lb back on with the usual winter foods etc. However, I've joined weightwatchers again and last week lost 3lb. I've discovered loads of new recipes and tips for super healthy meals. Tonight for dinner I made a vegetable concoction. In a frying pan with a few squirts of 1 cal oil spray I added 1 red onion, 1 pepper, 6 mushrooms, half an aubergine, 6 cherry tomatoes, 1 tin of chopped tomatoes, 2 cloves of garlic, pine nuts and goats cheese. It's seriously good! and serves 2 people. It's
  7. Welcome to the Forum Susan
  8. I'm about 120 pages into Merrick by Anne Rice and so far it's fantastic
  9. I've recently joined weightwatchers for the second time and have discovered a few new recipes. The latest one which I'm hooked on is a smoked salmon creation which is lovely. Smoked salmon, mushroom, aubergine, spinach leaves, pine nuts and low fat spready cheese. Basically, add them to a frying pan with a few squirts of One Cal spray oil and you're left with a small portion of heaven!
  10. 60s for me too My ipod is full of 60s music, I go to clubs which play 60s music....definately born a few decades too late. A few of my highlights (although there were so many) include: Bobby Fuller Four Del Shannon Wilson Pickett The Doors The Kinks The Stones Motown Spencer Davis Group Four Tops Beach Boys..... I could literally go on forever! Being born in 1980, I'm devastated to have missed that era
  11. I much prefer an unpredictable book to a predictable one. When I get to the end of a predictable book, while I may enjoy it, I feel a little bit let down. Unpredictable books give you that 'Wow' moment
  12. I am David Talbot and I'm thinking back on the time I first met Merrick Mayfair. (Merrick - Anne Rice)
  13. Well as I've progressed through university, it seems that each year I've become a little bit poorer. This next year could potentially be the worst yet so I've started to think of ways to cut back on my cut backs I suppose my guilty pleasure is popping into town to buy new clothes and treating myself to the odd luxury every now and then, but it's something I enjoy doing. I've started to buy vintage 1950s clothes, mainly dresses, as they don't go out of fashion and are really glamorous. I've also started to plan meals for the week so we don't buy things we don't need and we get all our fruit and vegetables from Newcastle's Grainger Market at a fraction of the price charged at Tesco. It's my little effort to protect local famers and small business from the negative effects of gentrification. I've started to look at the clothes I don't wear any longer, thinking of ways I can alter anything....I also have clothes swapping parties with friends which is pretty cool. So while it's not a simple life, it's a simpler life for me.
  14. I bought Merrick by Anne Rice today Hoping to start it tomorrow.
  15. Hey! Welcome to the Forum! I haven't read those books but my friend has been pestering me to for a while now. I'll have to borrow them from her
  16. Me too! The other day I picked up Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk and just couldn't get into to. I ended up reading a sookie stackhouse book which I'd read a million times because it was nice and easy on my poor exhausted brain Then other times I crave books. For the past few weeks I've been craving the next book in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (which is Merrick) but I didn't have it and didn't have time to get it. Today after handing in my last piece of uni work, the first thing I did was hot-foot it down to Waterstones when everyone else went to the pub! I literally can't wait to get started!
  17. Not long now Mrs!! I'm sure you'll get a 2:1....you'll be grand. It's really exciting but also nerve-wracking this finishing uni carry on isn't it! I've just finished my last ever assignment which feels really weird....a few of my friends are going back home tomorrow, never to be seen again

I looked for youtube videos of Godric and the actor who plays him to post on her facebook wall. The guy is pretty odd. Some of the videos of him are very strage indeed!

Also, I've just sent you a quick but very interesting email :D

  18. This bugs me too. Everything is just so wrong with this element. Same here....he's gorgeous! But definitely not our blonde wolf killer. I heard a rumour that Anne Rice is in talks with movie producers about remaking Lestat and QOTD as two separate movies, therefore restoring order in the world Erogon was also a let down for me as they changed so much of the book. Also, Slumdog Millionaire which is based on Q&A by Vikas Swarup is completely different to the book in everything except the gameshow theme. However, I prefered the movie. The book as it it probably wouldn't translate too well.
  19. Welcome to the Forum!!
  20. Hello Mrs!!

Haaa! I do the same....it's much more fun isn't it! Quinn is awful isn't he!! :irked: I thought the next book was due out this month so I went to Amazon to check the release date and it's not out until June!!! Devasted!!!

It's such a relief to get the dissertation out the way isn't it. How did you get on with it? I've got one more hand in on Monday which is a group project and then we're all done and dusted. Scary or what!!! Eeeek! Have you heard any more about your next course?

  21. I ended up looking at it on you tube as I couldn't be bothered to register either  I loved the Eric one! It looks like his hair is a bit darker in series three. My Sister has a massive crush on Godric () and was devastated when he went up in smoke. She's the only person I know who prefers Godric to Eric!

I'm poor too this summer so no holiday for me. I'm taking in a lodger in July/August to help out with the bills etc but by the time I pay the MA fees I'll still be poor. :weeping: Last summer we went to London on one of those
