  1. Gorgeous weather today. Sunny and cooler. Just right to go exploring, which I plan to do around noon-ish. No kiddos today so its time to do something grown up!
  2. I get to come on here regularly. I have it saved to my tablet which is always with me. If I can post with out the help of my 19 month old granddaughter "helping" me I will post but she's such a determined little troll that she seems to know where I'm going when I get on the computer!
  3. Looks like we're under a tornado watch today.
  4. I came across this video after seeing a clip on the news. Its quirky but so cute! What do you think? Have you seen it? God Only Knows
  5. Every once in a while I will see them sold as a box set at Walmart but I never seem to have enough money. We rent them from the library and binge watch! Im thinking it's about that time...
  6. I was engrossed by it. Even my hubby got interested and that says a lot!! I wonder of she's got another in the works.
  7. Athena, that definitely sounds confusing from this end but I'm sure it works. Your educational system ranks pretty high in first world countries, am I right? I'm always thrown by the acronyms, they sound so imposing!
  8. I've never found myself consciously pulling my books out at certain times they just seem to appear . It's just that I really started noticing it over the past few years. I seem to have a pattern. I do fit in other books from other genres but I always seem to fall back to these particular books during whatever season. I'm such a creature of habit!
  9. Waking up and finding that though my life is drastically different, I'm at peace! Woke up to an early morning conversation with my 6 week old grandbaby and had a cuddle session with my 19 month old granddaughter. She likes to creep into be and crawl all over us until she finds her perfect position, then stare me down, hold my face, Eskimo kiss me and then fall asleep in my arms!
  10. I don't know if I'm the odd one out but I find that there are certain genres that I read during different seasons. Like right now I am on my British mystery and fantasy kick. Summer time I do longer reads like Gone with the Wind, spring might be "chick flicks" and winter usually means I'm breaking out the classics. Anyone else like this?
  11. I'm reading M. C. Beaton's Death of a Cad. I found two books in the series that I had not read so I'm reading them through the amazon/kindle library. Its almost time for me to get into my fantasy books. I tend to read certain books seasonally. Hmmm, might be an interesting topic!
  12. Screaming mutants and NPR radio (National Public Radio). I would really love to find a folksy local talk radio program but NPR is always good!
  13. Masterpiece Theater's Miss Marple VII: Greenshaw's Folly.
  14. Lovely here, highs around 81'f or 27'celsius Thanks pontalba! Sunny with perfect outdoor temps. Still looking forward to some rainy, cold and windy days!
  15. I THINK I've got it. In our high schools, we do advanced classes while in high school. For those students who are going to college they follow the CP classes (college prep). For those going into trade, they often have a general diploma and may go to a vocational school from their "feeder" (high school0 and return to the feeder school before school ends. They normally do this twice a week and often come out with basic certifications in automotive, child care, certified nursing assistance, etc. We also have what's known as "dual enrollment" this allows students to attend college for credits (while still in school and during school hours) to get those "core classes" out of the way if they decide to attend college. This is done at a community college (2 year college). No matter which track they take, they get the same type of transcript. There is no gap between high school and college unless you count community college. Fascinating stuff!
  16. So the "A levels" are between the GSCE and University? Like a prep for university or extended high school? Do you have to take the "A levels" in order to get into uni?
  17. What are "A" levels? Is it like the equivalent of the U.S. "Bachelors degree?"
  18. I see it all the time, GSCE (?) CV'S and first and second forms. What exactly do they represent? I know what "OWL'S" are, lol!!!
  19. Nonlinear, I automatically thought of Wuthering Heights when I read your post! We had to turn the heat on. I'm loving it!
  20. I finished Cockoo's Calling and really enjoyed it!
  21. Spent a total of 4 hours in the highway. I picked the kids up film their visitation and went to church while I was there. I'm supposed to go to a comedy show this evening but our cousin has car issues and the hubby has to go help her out. Our quiet weekend is officially over!!
  22. As we are with Tri-care (military) our shots are always free. Thank God for that. Traveling 1.5 hours to take the kids for their visitations with the parents, then headed back home. Spent too much at Petsmart yesterday. Seems my boy King came complete with his own little "friends." He had so many fleas he could create his own country. Both dogs needed extra dips, $113 for both, ugh. Oh well, no midnight scratch fests that wake us out of our sleep! Have a great one everyone!
