~V~ Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 i'm WastingTime on listal i tried adding stuff from the top rated stuff, but it seems quite picky as to which ones it adds. need to get my head round it a bit better Quote
Purple Poppy Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I looked at Listral, but think I'll stick with Librarything. Quote
Ronny Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 There is a forum area on Listal if you click on the Groups link in the top right corner and it can be very helpful for getting started and fixing gliches. BTW, I go by Chuckmuck at Listal:) Quote
Janet Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 i'm WastingTime on listal Hmm - despite me copying/pasting you, it says WastingTime is not on database. Quote
~V~ Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 Hmm - despite me copying/pasting you, it says WastingTime is not on database. weird. have copied the top line so you can see Welcome WastingTime [Logout] - Members Friends Groups Mail Quote
Janet Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Bizarre! 'WastingTime' was not found in the user database Have you added me? Quote
Kell Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I did have a Listal account, but I kinda lost interest in it - I rather like the LibraryThing set-up though... Quote
Angel Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 What a good site! I will be using this one Quote
Paul Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I'm a paid-up member on Library Thing with way more than 200 books and I think it is great! Even if, for security reasons, I am there under a different name which I close hold. People there can see my name there, which is sufficient for all purposes there. Quote
Purple Poppy Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 It occured to me today, that having all the books catalogued on a site like Librarything, is good for insurance purposes. People who don't read are frequently taken aback by the numbers of books I have (or have had in the past). At least this way you have some proof. (Although, of course, someone could enter books they don't own...but why bother!) Quote
mrstrecool Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I've spent half the day on Listal filling in my fave books, etc. I LOVE making lists. I'm finding it highly addictive! Quote
JudyB Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks for the link to LibraryThing - am currently adding my books to it. Do you get extra features if you pay? Quote
Polka Dot Rock Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I think you get an unlimited amount of books that you can add, whereas you can 'only' add 200 on the free account. I'm not sure what else you may get, tho. Quote
Purple Poppy Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I've decided to pay a lifetime fee as I have so many books to add. Not sure what the other benefits are though. I am looking at it from the point of view of insurance, if nothing else. You can also get a download of your library contents onto your mobile if you are book shopping and have forgotten what you've got, (available to everyone I think) Might be better having a separate wish list feature for that though. Anyway, better start cataloguing. Quote
Michelle Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I don't have time to sit and catologue all my books!! Quote
Acesare* Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I don't have time to sit and catologue all my books!! Poor Michelle, you don't even get time to sit Quote
Purple Poppy Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Amy asked How much did that cost, PP? It costs £13.06. Not bad. I will trawl round later and see if there are other perks. Pp Quote
JudyB Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I don't have time to sit and catologue all my books!! Neither do I! - I've squandered loads of time on this, I'm totally addicted!!! Would love to see some sort of wish list feature though. Quote
Purple Poppy Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Yes.I agree. We can mention it though. There's a thread somewhere...I have seen it. The only reason I can catalogue is because I am not working at present. Quote
JudyB Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Would love to see some sort of wish list feature though. Have got round this by tagging books as read, TBR or wishlist - that way you can create separate lists by clicking on the different tag options. Quote
Purple Poppy Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Ah...I see. Thanks Judy . Can I add you to my watching list? Quote
Bunny Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 thank for the link, i think I might use that Quote
Purple Poppy Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Well if you do, you can add us all to your watching list (funny thing to call it!). We'll all keep each other company lol Quote
