Inver
When do you play that, is it this weekend. U'17's have an away game hopefully tomorrow....depends on pitch inspection, been pretty wet past couple of day. If they win they are a point of the leaders with a game in hand...! Sedge
We play Folland on the 22nd. As for today, we were due to play Elmore who unfortunately withdrew from the League a few weeks ago. So it was a 'feet up' day for us.
Inver
U'17's game was cancelled this morning....soggy pitch. Andy went to watch Glendale...took kit with him, but he wasn't expecting to get to play....they actually won today too...3-1....he said they were still playing rubbish though.... Inver
Nothing to report today.....both games off due to waterlogged pitches, not surprising given the horrid weather this week. On a happy note though....great win for Scotland last night...
Sedge
Just the one Premier Division game postponed today Inver, and it was our away trip to Bovey Tracy! They're the team who couldn't raise a side to play us a few weeks ago. We've now dropped to 5th but have 8 games in hand over our nearest rivals. It'll be a busy second half of the season in 2015! Inver
Nice when you have games in hand to catch up again.
Sedge
League matches seem a bit of a novelty for us at the moment but we were pleased with a great 4-1 victory last night. Two penalties were missed but we could laugh at the second as we were already 4-1 up. Next up we play Folland Sports in the FA Vase on Saturday. Hopefully the nerves won't have too much of an effect! Ben
On a happy note though....great win for Scotland last night... How did they get on Tuesday night?
Inver
Well you obviously know Ben since you are hiding...! Was only a friendly so we let you win....!
Inver
Not footie report again this weekend....Glendale and U'17's games off due to soggy pitches.
Sedge
The long trip to Southampton paid off! Although we opened the scoring against Folland, by half-time we were 2-1 down and had a man sent off for shirt pulling. The lads dug in though to prevent another Folland goal and with just 4 minutes left on the clock we equalised to force extra time. Folland's man advantage couldn't stop us from scoring the winner on 117 minutes! I'm looking forward to the last 32 draw on Monday. Wouldn't mind a home tie this time though.☺
Inver
Well done getting the winner...and good luck with the draw.
Sedge
Cheers Inver! Good news - we have a home tie in the next round. Verwood Town beat Plymouth Parkway (the reigning champions of our own league) on Saturday, so we need to be on top of our game on 6th December.☺
Inver
Good it is a home game...hope you get lots of support.....extra training sessions are a must then...!
Inver
And another weekend washed out....no footie for 4wks now...will be lucky to get a game in before Christmas break at this rate..!
Sedge
How many games played now Inver? And how many still to play?
Inver
17's have only played 5...about 6 still to play I think, due to the weather being rubbish. The rain seems to have gone at the moment, but quite heavy frost past couple of nights so see what the weekend brings. They haven't played 4 weeks in a row...! Glendale have played 11 and not even half way yet...think they have a cup game this weekend, but don't see Andy getting a game, he is tied to coaching the 17's at the moment due to lack of coaches. Their games have been getting called off too. Have to hope for good weather for the weekend....looks OK'ish if a bit chilly...hope it stays dry at least. Any fixtures to report Sedge? Sedge
Yesterday saw a freezing night in which we struggled to get past a lower division side in the League Cup. Our 'keeper had a nightmare when he fumbled the ball and lost out to their striker within 30 seconds! A similar blunder saw him concede a second ten minutes later and we were being outplayed comprehensively. Fortunately we woke up and managed to pull level by half time. The second half saw us back to our usual selves, going 4-2 up before another defensive disaster made it 4-3. Our opponents pushed and forced a goal-line clearance in the last minute. Shamefully we have to hold our hands up and admit to complacency going into this game, but we made it through. It was a fright we don'the want to experience again! Inver
Phew....how many times does that happen.....'yeh we should win this ok...' Cold and frosty here tonight....reckon it will be another day of footie cancellations.
Sedge
I hope your boys get a game this afternoon Inver. What's the weather like today? It's a big moment for us. We're at home in the third round of the FA Vase against higher league opposition. However, they're struggling near the bottom of their league and are portraying themselves as the underdogs. We have two key players suspended and one injured. Anything could happen!☺
Inver
Sorry for the late up date of the footie last weekend....Glendale...no game, so some consolation as they didn't lose any points...! U'17's did get a game. Phone rang at 8.30 and we thought here we go for the 5th week in a row of cancellation, however they actually moved the game to another pitch and they got it played. It was the local derby again against the other Culter team and it was 0-0 at HT. They came out fighting after HT but went down 1-0, then they had a penalty awarded against them, but our goalie made a fantastic save and denied them (soft) the penalty. Much to Andy's delight they managed to win convincingly 3-1, much to the other coaches disgust saying we were lucky...! Cold and had a few flakes of snow drifting through today, so an away game this weekend at Stonehaven (if it is on). How did you get on in the FA Vase?
Sedge
Our FA Vase game can best be described as 'unexpected'. Verwood Town were from a higher league but never really got the chance to perform as we dominated the game from start to finish. The final score was 6-1! In the next round we're away at Greenwich Borough. I've read up on them and they look frighteningly good with some former professionals in their side. A win is unlikely but we'll give it our best try! We started our defence of the Cornwall Senior Cup last night with a 5-0 win over Falmouth Town. We're now on an 18 game winning run! A season like this doesn't come along very often, so we'll make sure we enjoy it.
Inver
Good going Sedge....what a great win for you. U'17's game as to be expected due to the cold ground was called off. But Andy actually managed to get a game himself....bit of a treck up to Turriff for a cup game. We didn't go...shame really as he got a hat trick ...! Typical. The were 4-3 down but scored in injury time 4-4...eventually went to pens and the won 4-3. He ended up taking 3 pens....1st was fine...but he had to retake it as somebody was marginally in the box....took it again, same tactics...looked to the corner and blasted it down the middle. He was also one of the pen takers and did the same again. He said you would think the goalie would have had some idea where he was going to put the ball after three times....lol. So that is us ....will be all quiet for the U'17's over Christmas, but I think Glendale are playing through...weather permitting...!
Sedge
That's the kind of match I like Inver! Provided I'm on the winning side of course. We seem to be signing a lot of players at the moment - it's only a matter of time before we get around to Andy! Winter rains have finally arrived. We had our first postponement of the season on Saturday and Friday's match against the champions is in the balance. Crossing my fingers! Inver
Game on.....then off...! U'17's had a fixture...no Andy as he was on a First Aid course today. Off to the park we went, thermal clad for the cold afternoon....setting up the nets etc...clearing goal mouths of twigs etc from the windy weather....forking the puddly bits in the middle of the pitch...tractor like tyre marks on two patches of it....ref comes to inspect...conflab with our coach, away coach and the ref....he calls the pitch unplayable....checks for alternative pitch next to it...by this time it is snowing..!...other pitch too hard and couldn't see the line markings....so game aff....take down nets etc...trundles back to the car...get refund for the pitch we hadn't used...go to local café in park to have hot coffee and scones. Pitch should never have been deemed playable...was a joke... no way prior oto 8.am could the groundsman have even seen the pitch..! Glendale did have a game though...1/4 final of a cup...and they won 6-3...! So how was your day Sedge...?
