Inver Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hoorah...sunny day and playable pitches. Andy & Glendale won 2-1 today and took 3 points off the second top league leaders....nae luck Blackburn Quote
Sedge Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Good stuff Inver! We didn't have a scheduled game yesterday which is just as well because on Friday night we had rain of biblical proportions! Anyway it was a good chance to rest before next week's away trip to the league champions and current leaders! Quote
Inver Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Two defeats this weekend. Glendale got beat 3-0...out a cup and U'13's 4-2, but much improved play from last weekend and deserved at least a point. How did your game against the league champs go Sedge? Quote
Sedge Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 So close! We levelled the scores after being 2-0 down, but then conceded the winner in injury time (again!). Not the result we wanted, but in every other respect, I was very pleased! We're still the last team to beat the champs though. It's the cup semi-final on Thursday - fingers crossed. Hope you have better luck next weekend Inver. Quote
Inver Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Sounds like you gave them a run for their money though Sedge...shame about the the injury time goal...hate when that happens Quote
SueK Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Can someone lift me from the gloom of being an Arsenal supporter Quote
Sedge Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Here you go Sue - St Austell have just beaten Saltash United to reach their second Cornwall Senior Cup Final in 3 years! I know that the news you've been on tenterhooks for! Quote
SueK Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Here you go Sue - St Austell have just beaten Saltash United to reach their second Cornwall Senior Cup Final in 3 years! I know that the news you've been on tenterhooks for! Thanks Sedge you have lifted my spirits. There is nothing like watching your local team win well. Congrats on reaching the Cornwall Snr Cup Final - I'm sure that in their present mood, they could give the Gooners a good thwacking! : Quote
Inver Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 What stars Sedge....great stuff No footie to report again this weekend....rain stopped play yet again. Quote
Sedge Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Thanks Inver. We played in the league on Saturday, 2 days after the semi-final, had 2 players sent off and lost 2-1 to one of the lower ranking teams - it's a funny old game! Quote
Inver Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 What was the score by the way to get you into the final? Quote
Ben Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Congratulations on reaching the final Sedge, I'm sure you're nothing short of delighted. Quote
Sedge Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Thanks Ben. Inver - We arrived at the match with 7 injured players and no goalkeeper. Evidently Saltash didn't realise that we had a defender between the posts because they played the entire game with just one forward! The final score was 3-1, so I think we got out of jail there! Quote
Sedge Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Always stick with a winning tactic! We've got a weekend off Inver - any football for Glendale? Quote
Inver Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) Another loss....beaten 3-2 today and their goalie went in for a 50/50 ball and came off worst. Had to be taken to hospital, may have a cracked/broken rib. We haven't heard anything yet. Andy and the U'13's have a quarter final tomorrow, so hoping the pull their socks up and play well to get to a semi. Be great if they could for their first season, although they aren't doing as well as they hoped in the league. Edited March 19, 2011 by Inver Quote
Sedge Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Ouch for the goalie! Hope he'll be OK. Good luck to the Under 13s as well. It's amazing how a disappointing league season can be soothed by a good cup run - I've been there! Quote
Inver Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 U'13's put up a brave fight against a middle of the A league team. They were beat 5-1 in the end but 3-1 would have been the better score. Totally unlucky by two of the goals that were scored that were unstopable. Andy was well pleased with their efforts though and told them so. Not bad to get into a quarter final in their first season. When he thanked the ref he replied that the game was a pleasure to do, both teams and sidelines being well behaved! Good news too, Glendale's goalies suffered no broken ribs, just badly bruised. They had a game tonight but beaten 5-2....they could do with a win. Andy getting frustrated too as they keep playing him out of position, back to left back tonight ( he has usually been playing up front). They are trying to keep him sweet by saying he played well. Quote
Sedge Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 It's great to hear that the youngsters are playing the game in such a good spirit. Top class football isn't exactly a great advert for the Respect campaign, but there seems to be hope for the future of the game judging by what you say! Quote
Inver Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 So tonight we want St Johnstone to beat Brechin to get to semi-final Raith Rovers to be beat Ross County, to hang on to their 1st Division league leaders. Quote
Inver Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Good result today Sedge for Glendale.....3-1 in a cup and my boy scored two of them. They saw the light and put him up front He also told us that in the dressing room for the pre match talk, his manager mentioned that their has been a scout around 2 or 3 of the games for a Junior team (be a step up from Amateurs) and that Andy may get a phone call. He didn't say who the team were though. Watch this space Quote
Sedge Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 That's excellent news for Andy! Smiles all round yesterday - we were at home to the bottom club and managed to beat them 7-0! That's our biggest win for 7 years! Quote
Inver Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Hi Sedge....they say 7 is a lucky number for some....great win for you. Quote
Sedge Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 We had a narrow 2-1 defeat against one of the league's high-fliers yesterday and acquitted ourselves well. Better news - our Cup Final opponents had their keeper sent off and his one match ban comes into force on.......Cup Final day! How did it go for Glendale Inver? Quote
Inver Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) We didn't go to the game, but Andy was playing another 2-1 defeat too am afraid. His U'13's played a game that potentially they should have won, but he and his fellow coaches were very frustrated with them as they weren't taking on board their team talks etc. Beaten 4-3. However today, Andy had a annon text saying to check out one of the oposition no.14 as he could have been playing out of his age group. It appears that he may/has been playing for the U'14's in the same club too. Andy is looking into it and he is phoning the SYFA tomorrow to see if he can shed any light on which age group he is registered with. He was put down as a trialist, but this would be wrong if he is playing for the U'14's. Andy did find on the clubs website he has been on team start lists for the U'14's! It could go further if it is true and may go to a hearing! They potentially could get 3pts deducted and Culter get them. Watch this space Sedge! The joys of being a manager! Good news that the Cup Final opponents goalie will be out ...take advantage of that then. Edited April 4, 2011 by Inver Quote
