Peacefield Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The scene of Bella looking out the window is just absolutely amazing, could watch that scene over and over again, it's just so well done. I'm really pleased on how it all turned out although I laughed at some scenes cause they were just plain ridiculous, but so is the book Don't get me wrong, I love the books, but somehow they're ridiculous as well I thought it was done really well too, Chrissi, and that scene you mention is one of my faves . Especially with the Thom Yorke song in the background! I was annoyed this last viewing to notice the strategically placed Burger King bag in the background when Mike, Bella and Jacob were all at the movie theatre together. I wonder how much BK had to pay to get that spot! Quote

Nollaig Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Well good for him! He's a sound sort of fellow alright. Quote
Weave Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 He certainly is, I could not believe it when I read the story, she was hardly sitting there with a video camera!, the poor girl must be so worried. Quote
Nollaig Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Chris is totally right in what he says, it's one thing to arrest someone who is found with the whole film on video, or a hidden camera that has recorded the movie up to the point where it's discovered, and a girl with a couple of minutes of it. It does set a bad example to punish her JUST because she got caught, when she only got caught because she wasn't actually doing anything. Quote
Peacefield Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Chris is the man! The theatre/authorities should be focused on the poor girl's intent. It was obviously not to film the movie, so end of story. Quote

AbielleRose Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) Taylor Lautner was on Saturday Night Live. I couldn't help laughing at this, it's great! (Nollaig, this is for you!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldXyF3rr2HE&feature=player_embedded Edited December 13, 2009 by CaliLily Quote
Nollaig Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 OMG I love Taylor! He's an absolute legend - thank you so much for that link!! 'If those abs are real then the guy who played Jacob deserves an Oscar.' LMAO!! GIVE HIM AN OSCAR!!! Quote
kylie78 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I'm finally going to see New Moon tonight - I can't wait, I've been so patient it's sad! Quote

I loved it when he started kissing Robert Pattinson's picture and said something like 'I know, notebooks aren't for kissing.' Quote
lexiepiper Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Chris Weitz has revealed 10 New Moon secrets ~ * On Bella's copy of Romeo & Juliet, a picture from Volterra covered the book. * The camera drop during Paul and Jacob's in-transformation tussle was intentional to recreate the look of an actual animal knocking over the camera. * In front of Emily's house, there was a drum actually given to the production crew by a member of the Quileute Nation. * The opening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon with the moon phasing backwards was also intentional to reflect accuracy in phasing. * Aro says "Fore ... ne il vostro l'uno o altro" to Bella in the Volturi lair, meaning "Perhaps ... nor yours either" (regarding whether he understands Edward's soul). * There were three new placements of wolves in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. There was one in Twilight in Bella's room, and the three are in Carlisle' s bowl, on Jacob's tee-shirt when he talks to Bella in the parking lot, and on the dream-catcher. * The song being played in the Italy elevator scene is Die Fledermaus by Strauss. This translates to "The Bat." * Bella carries a golden compass on her backpack into the meadow . . . baggage? * To make Edward move quickly before the birthday kiss at Bella's house, a double was used as Edward in the driver's seat, but Robert Pattinson waited alongside the camera. * "Kwop kilawtley" is what Jacob said to Bella in the kitchen. Apparantly 'Kwop kilawtley' means 'Stay with me forever' which is kinda cute Quote
Peacefield Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Thanks for posting those, Lexie! Oh how I wish I had the list with me tonight on my fifth viewing that I just returned from... Oh well, guess I'll just have to go again so I can pay attention to all those tidbits! The 10pm show was pretty quiet though, only us and 4 other pairs of people. I did finally notice the turned over photo in Bella's bedroom, but I missed the goof of the cameraman's reflection! I'm also so sick of seeing the same trailers beforehand I could just hurl something at the screen, LOL. Quote
Nollaig Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I didn't think the knocked over camera bit was a secret, I thought that was obvious! And I noticed the wolf on Jake's shirt too. The rest are neat little things to note though! Quote
Weave Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 I didn't think the knocked over camera bit was a secret Me neither, I liked how it was done and I noticed the wolves in the bowl that Carlisle uses! yay I finally noticed something Quote
AbielleRose Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 There may be another viewing on the horizon... What is the old term, one to try, two to taste and three to decide? Thanks for posting those facts Quote
Nollaig Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Me neither, I liked how it was done and I noticed the wolves in the bowl that Carlisle uses! yay I finally noticed something I loved how the camera-knocking bit was done! Thought it was a really nice touch really. I didn't see the wolf in Carlisle's bowl! Must look out for that Quote
Peacefield Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Yep, the camera getting knocked to the ground was excellent . I noticed a design on the bowl, but I obviously wasn't paying enough attention to know it was a wolf, oops! I definitely missed the compass on Bella's backpack so will have to watch out for that. I get the 'baggage' reference though, and having a golden compass must be a nod to Chris, right, since it was a film he directed? Very clever indeed . Quote
Nollaig Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 He directed The Golden Compass? Oh man I'm glad I didn't know that before I saw New Moon. He did an excellent job with New Moon but he ripped Northern Lights to shreds. Course, anyone who ever did it was going to I suppose. Quote

I have still to read 'Northern Lights' but 'The Golden Compass' was awful, I could not stand the girl that played Lyra! Quote
Peacefield Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I've read and watched countless interviews with Chris saying how unhappy he was with GC. He pretty much blamed the studio for not letting him be faithful to the book (ie a low budget) and basically ruined what he had done in post-editing. It's too bad because he really is an amazing director IMO, but that's the way of Hollywood I guess . Quote

True, it was a pity though, it would have been loads better if he had been allowed to do what he wanted to do, he has pretty much proven with NM, that he can stick to a book. :D Quote

His Dark Materials is brilliant. It's (self-admittedly on Pullman's part) a bit of a commentary on religion, so it was never going to do well. Personally I like Weitz - it wouldn't surprise me to find he was restricted as opposed to wanting to make GC as it was. Quote
Weave Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 I got the New Moon Illustrated companion for my birthday, its just as good as the Twilight one, loads of interesting facts and various pictures. Quote
