Raven Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 It has been announced that The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown's sequel to The Da Vinci Code, will be published on September 15th. Does the queue start here for the bookshop or the bonfire?! Quote
Nollaig Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Well I'm looking forward to it, I enjoyed the other two. Quote
chesilbeach Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Count me ... out The Da Vinci Code was dreadful, so badly written it almost made Twilight look like a masterpiece! Thankfully, I had to read it for my library reading group, so I didn't have to pay any of my own money for it, but that did mean I had to read it all to be able to talk about it fully Quote
Nollaig Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Admittedly, I liked Angels and Demons more, but I'm a sucker for conspiracy thrillers, no matter how badly written they are! Quote
joe Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) I will be in the queue for this book. I absolutely loved The De Vinci Code although i did prefer Angels and Demons. Edited April 21, 2009 by joe spelling mistake Quote
Purple Princess Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Yep, I'll be in the queue too! I liked Angels and Demons and Deception Point loads more than Da Vinci. Quote
Angel Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I may give it a go - I much prefer Angels and Demons Quote
DanC_84 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Whilst I also preferred Angels and Demons I will definately read this one. Quote
rach.at.the.disco Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Count me in, I loved Da Vinci Code Same here. Although I have yet to read Angels and Demons, it's buried deep in my TBR pile . Quote
DanC_84 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Same here. Although I have yet to read Angels and Demons, it's buried deep in my TBR pile . Wow, you have to read it! If you liked the Da Vinci Code you would love Angels and Demons. Quote
rach.at.the.disco Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Wow, you have to read it! If you liked the Da Vinci Code you would love Angels and Demons. I plan on reading it as soon as possible. From what I've read on here, I've a great book to look forward to . Can't wait to get stuck in. Quote
Rawr Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Angels and Demons is brilliant Looking forward to this next book, not so much the hype Quote
Peacefield Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I'm looking forward to it too! I was wondering when he'd get around to writing something new... Quote
chesilbeach Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Looks like I'm in the minority then ... Quote
Raven Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Turning the question around a little, how many of the above - who have said they will give the book a go - will buy the hardback? Quote
Nollaig Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Not me, I'd be happy with a torn up second hand copy months down the line - I only want to read it. Quote
Peacefield Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Good question, Raven! I don't want to read it that badly, LOL. Unless I can get my hands on a used hardback, I'll wait for the PB or risk the library. Quote
Rawr Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I don't want to pay a fortune without knowing if it's worth it, i don't mind buying hardback copies if the books good, but far too many times i've been left angry. Quote
joe Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I rarely buy hardback copies of books so i will wait for the paperback edition. Quote
Hobgoblin Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 It would have to be paperback as I've got the other four in paperback and I do so like an orderly looking bookcase. Quote
Hobgoblin Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 With publishers forever changing their artwork it is often a losing battle. Quote
Raven Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Sadly this is true, my Iain M. Banks books come in three distinct flavours . . . Quote
Ceinwenn Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Looks like I'm in the minority then ... I'm in that minority with you chesilbeach! Quote
